Did you know we offer adult psychology sessions too? đ¤
At Walky Talky Hub, our Clinical Psychologist Lydia supports adults with anxiety, stress, emotional regulation, parenting challenges, neurodiversity, self-esteem and life transitions.
As parents, we spend so much time caring for everyone elseâŚbut you canât pour from an empty cup. Supporting your own mental health helps you feel more supported, regulated and better able to support your family too.

Did you know these facts about stuttering? đ
1ď¸âŁ Stuttering is more common in boys than girls.
2ď¸âŁ The old âwait and seeâ approach is no longer recommended. While many children do go through a natural period of disfluency, we have no reliable way of predicting which children will grow out of it and which children will continue to stutter. Current evidence supports seeking support as early as possible.
3ď¸âŁ Stuttering is generally harder to treat the longer a child has been stuttering. Early intervention matters đ
4ď¸âŁ Stuttering cannot be âcaughtâ or learned from other people. Being around someone who stutters does not cause stuttering.
If your child has started stuttering, seeing a speech pathologist early can make a big difference. If youâre near Myaree in Perth, we can help at Walky Talky Hubďżź.

đ¸ Is your child limping after sport or complaining of heel pain?
It might be Severâs Disease â a common growth-related cause of heel pain in active kids aged 8 to 14.
This condition happens when the soft growth plate in the heel becomes irritated by repeated pulling from the Achilles tendon (hello, footy training and dance rehearsals!).
The good news? It often settles with time, and thereâs lots we can do to manage pain and keep your child moving â from calf stretches to shoe advice and load management.
đŹ Our physios can help tailor a plan for your child â no need to drop sport completely!
đ§ Reach out to us at [email protected] if youâre noticing signs of Severâs.

Round and round the Walky Talky Hub gymâŚ.
Our Movement and Music Class kids were in for a treat last week with this epic obstacle course set up for the class!
There was lots of balancing, stomping, jumping and of course, dancing!
Physio, Alison, helped the kids move their bodies, whilst Music Teacher, Amy, sang and played her ukelele đś
We love seeing the kidsâ smiling faces every week and see them grow in confidence.

Language learning⌠but make it banana bread đ
You donât need structured âtalking activitiesâ or extra resources to support your childâs communication.
Everyday routines, like baking, cooking, dressing, or playing are full of rich language opportunities.
When Iâm baking with my toddler, I focus on:
âď¸ simple, functional words (mix, pour, more)
âď¸ short phrases linked to actions we are doing
âď¸ lots of repetition in natural moments
No pressure for your little one to repeat. Just hearing language in context is so powerful.
Now that my toddler is talking, I love hearing her say the words Iâve modelled over and over again whilst weâve baked together over the last year đ
If you need help with your childâs language skills, come see one of our Speech Pathologists at Walky Talky Hub. Weâd love to help!

If youâve ever wonderedâŚ
âAm I doing enough to support my babyâs development?â Youâre not alone đ¤
Baby playgroups arenât about doing more - theyâre about showing you how much learning is already happening through simple, everyday play.
At Walky Talky Hub, our baby playgroup is run by an experienced physiotherapist who gently guides you on how to support your babyâs gross motor development without it ever feeling overwhelming or like a chore.
Each session is tailored to your baby â whether theyâre working on tummy time, rolling, sitting or crawling â and youâll walk away with practical ideas you can actually use at home.
Plus, you get something just as important:
⨠connection with other parents
⨠a chance to ask questions
⨠a reason to get out of the house
Our group is designed for babies who are not yet walking. If your little one is already on the move, our toddler playgroup may be a better fit đ

I may not have a magic wand⌠but I do have a bag đâ¨
And inside that bag? So many opportunities for language, connection, and learning.
To a child, this just looks like a fun gameââwhatâs in the bag?â
But underneath, weâre working on turn-taking, attention, vocabulary, describing, predicting, sentence building⌠the list goes on.
This is what good speech therapy should feel like.
Not drills. Not pressure. Not sitting at a table being âtested.â
Because when therapy feels like play, children are more engaged.
When theyâre engaged, they communicate more.
And when they communicate more⌠thatâs where the real progress happens.
It might look simpleâbut thereâs a lot of thought, planning, and intention behind every âgameâ we play.
⨠Play is the work of childhood⌠and itâs how we build communication

We donât have a magic wand đŞ
As much as weâd love to âfixâ things in a 45-minute session⌠real, lasting change doesnât happen that way.
It happens in the everyday momentsâ
during play, at mealtimes, in the car, at bath time.
Thatâs why research shows that when parents use strategies with their child, it can be up to 3x more effective than when the same strategies are only used in therapy sessions (Dunst, 2007).
Because youâre the one there for all those little moments that add up to big progress đ
At Walky Talky Hub, our role is to guide, support and coach youâso you feel confident using simple, practical strategies at home.
Because therapy isnât just about what we do.
Itâs about what you can do every day.
If youâd like support to help your child thrive, weâd love to help.

âMy child says p**n instead of sp**nâŚâ đĽ
This is actually really common!
Young children often simplify words that have two consonants togetherâthis is called cluster reduction.
You might hear things like:
â star â tar
đ¸ frog â fog
Clusters can be tricky because they require two sounds in a row, so itâs a normal part of early speech development.
Most children grow out of this pattern by around 4 years old. If your child is still dropping sounds in clusters after this age, a little extra support can make a big difference đŹ
⨠We currently have immediate availability for speech therapy, with additional days just opened up.

Not all behaviour is ânaughtyâ - sometimes itâs a nervous system doing its best to cope đ¤
In this reel, our clinical psychologist Lydia breaks down the fight, flight and freeze responses and how they can show up in children. From big emotions and aggression, to withdrawal or shutting down, these responses are often rooted in feeling unsafe or overwhelmed.
Understanding why a child behaves the way they do is the first step toward supporting them with compassion and the right tools.
If you have a child â or know a child â who may benefit from trauma-informed therapy, Lydia has a special interest in this area and currently has appointments available at Walky Talky Hub (Myaree, Perth).
