Salty Vibes

Today I cried in the studio.
Not because I was sad, but because I realised how far I’ve come.
You see, five years ago I bought a jacket.
It was to wear with my Salty tee that a friend made for me at markets.
It was $45 from Kmart.
At the time, we didn’t have $45 spare.
So I took what little money I had in the business and bought myself the jacket.
Today, I wore that same jacket.
And as I stood in the studio with four Salty crew working away around me, I was completely blown away by the reality of Salty… and my existence in that very moment.
So I took this photo.
When Kylie asked me about the pic, I promptly burst into tears and told her the story.
Needless to say, she hugged me and said, “I hope you’re proud of yourself.”
Then she started crying too.
The rest of the gang (mostly teens and young adults) must have thought we were completely nuts. 😂
But us grown-ass women just cried, reflected, and laughed at the wild and wonderful nature of what we’re creating.
None of this would be possible without the Salty Vibes community.
Five years ago I took a punt, but so has every single customer we’ve ever had.
Thank you for trusting us with your s**t days, your gift giving, and your deeply personal stories.
Thank you for letting us be a tiny part of your lives.

Just saw this one this morning and had to share.

Maybe you’re not falling apart. Maybe you’re waking up.

To the exhaustion. To the resentment. To the overstimulation. To the things you’ve been carrying without question for years.

The world is quick to label women as dramatic, difficult, emotional or angry when we stop coping the way everyone expects us to or pushes back against the bulls**t.

But what if nothing is wrong with us?

What if our nervous system is simply done pretending it’s okay and our preparedness to tolerate the same old s**t no longer exists.

Perhaps this isn’t a breakdown. Perhaps it’s the beginning of the season of honesty and boundaries.
