India has called for a thorough and detailed investigation into the incident involving Shahid Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha. The message was conveyed by summoning Bangladesh's High Commissioner to India. This information was reported by the Indian media outlet Hindustan Times on Tuesday (23 December).
According to the report, on Tuesday evening Bangladesh's High Commissioner to India, Riaz Hamidullah, was summoned to India's Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi. During the meeting, the head of the Bangladesh-Myanmar Division and Joint Secretary, B. Shyam, told him that a proper and impartial investigation is necessary into the recent killing of Bangladeshi student leader Sharif Osman Hadi.
Sources familiar with the matter said the Indian side stated that it would be inappropriate to blame India before the investigation into Hadi's death is completed. An Indian official said that a comprehensive investigation should be conducted to determine who was involved in Hadi's murder.
