AA kidnaps 10 Rohingya girls from Kin Taung village, Buthidaung

Ten Rohingya girls were abducted by the Arakan Army (AA) from Kin Taung village, Buthidaung Township, Rakhine State, on March 10.

Local sources told MDN that
AA troops entered the village, violently abducted the Rohingya girls, and took them to an AA camp. The families of the girls who were abducted said they were very worried for their safety and did not know what would happen to them.

“They (AA) entered the village and took 10 girls. We are very scared because we do not know why they took them,” a Rohingya local told MDN. The exact condition or whereabouts of the abducted girls were not known at the time of writing.

Another local said that some families believed that their daughters would not be abducted if they could pay money.

“People say that if a family can pay the AA, they can’t take their daughters to the AA camp without them being captured,” the locals said.

Many villagers say that fear is spreading in the village, and parents are very concerned about the safety of their daughters. “We are very worried about our daughters. Poor families can’t pay and they are afraid that their daughters will be captured,” a Rohingya elder told MDN.

According to local Rohingya communities, the incident has increased uncertainty and fear in the village, with families trying to protect their daughters from AA recruitment and violence.
