Had an overwhelming rush of emotions today. The road I walked felt so familiar, because I had walked it before during those unbearable days when we stood against a fascist government. The sound of gunshots, tear shells exploding, the sting of a rubber bullet hitting my leg, the sight of lifeless bodies on the streets everything came back in flashes.

This was the first vote I ever cast in my life, yet it carried the weight of so many memories. I could not forget Osman Hadi’s words, his face, and the faces of Abrar, Shagor, Runi, all the martyrs of the July movement, and the victims of the B.D.R massacre. They stayed with me the entire time, like silent witnesses to this day. It was a restless, sleepless night filled with thoughts that refuse to quiet down.

I already know the upcoming government will probably say they are trying their best to solve the cases, and history tells us how that usually ends. Promises will be made, assurances will be repeated, and justice will once again be delayed in the name of process and patience. Still, I write this with a heavy but fearless heart. Maybe this is the last time we will be able to freely say what we feel about the system and those in power.

But remember this. If we could stand united and bring down a horrifying political force, we can unite again. The throne you sit on is built on the blood, tears, and sacrifice of the people. Do not mistake their patience for weakness. Do not threaten the very hands that gave you power. Authority is temporary, but the will of the people is not.

I carry no grand hopes. I am not blinded by promises anymore. The only thing that truly excites me is that I could finally cast my own vote. That simple act felt like reclaiming a piece of my voice, a piece of dignity, a piece of the freedom we fought for.
