My wig-making was inspired by my late mother Winnifred who struggled with hair loss due to chemotherapy treatments.
My mother really appreciated my wigs because they made her feel empowered even through adversity.
Looking back at my childhood, I remember admiring my mom for her deeply coiled hair. As she got older, her hair began to thin and fall out. At first, we all thought it was a part of aging but unfortunately, we later found out that her hair thinning was due to cancer. Although she never admitted it, I knew that the significant hair loss hindered her confidence and self-esteem. When she passed away, I knew that I wanted to make it my personal mission to ensure no man or women felt ashamed of their hair. As such, in 1997, I opened my store SnD Fashion Wigs in memory of my loving mother Winifred. My main goal was to provide wigs, extensions, hair products and more to my local community to honour my mother’s legacy. However, due to various reasons including the covid 19 pandemic, I was unable to upkeep with the demands and financial responsibilities of owning a store. Although my store had to come to a close, I still continue to create wigs in hopes that I can empower and build self-confidence in men and women in all walks of life.
