Fresh harvest of pine needles(I have 15 Eastern White Pine in my backyard) going in my alembic still today 😍

Did you know that for conifer, different seasons harvest will give you different results?

👉Late spring to early summer often gives the brightest, freshest hydrosol. New-season needles usually produce a crisp aroma with more citrus, green, and sweet conifer notes because the tree is actively producing volatile compounds.
👉Mid- to late summer can produce a somewhat stronger, deeper conifer scent. Depending on weather and the individual tree, resinous compounds may become more pronounced. Some distillers actually prefer this profile.
👉Fall often yields a rounder, softer aroma with less of the vibrant "green" character.
👉Winter needles can still make an excellent hydrosol, but the fragrance may be more subdued and woody. Cold stress can alter the terpene profile, though not necessarily reduce overall quality.

My plan is to make the grounding room spray . The same spray that I have made in the past and that I loved so much. And, I have been thinking about possibly making a body lotion.
We shall see if I have the time to get to it😊

From talking with my clients over the years, they seem to fall into one of two camps when it comes to lavender—they either absolutely love it or they can't stand it!

I'm curious... which camp are you in? 💜

As for me, I used to think I hated the smell of lavender. But after switching to more natural products, I realized it was actually synthetic lavender fragrance that I didn't like. It often irritated my skin, while real lavender flowers, essential oil, and hydrosols have never bothered me.

Now I can honestly say I love the scent of real lavender. I find it so calming and relaxing. 🌿💜

Okay... am I the only one who didn't know the buds on lavender actually open up into little flowers? 😂💜

This is my first year having enough lavender to harvest for making hydrosols. While researching the best time to harvest it, I learned that the peak oil content (which gives a hydrosol its beautiful scent and beneficial properties) is when about one-half of the flowers on each stem have opened.

I'll admit... I had no idea what they meant by "the flowers have opened" until last evening, when I noticed a few of the buds had bloomed into these adorable little flowers! 😍

Every season of growing herbs teaches me something new, and I love getting to learn right alongside my garden. 🌿💜

I’m excited to share an update on my new baking soda-free deodorant! 🌿✨

A few weeks ago, I introduced this new formula, and I’m pretty thrilled with the results! 😍

Last week, my 15-year-old son worked on one of those incredibly hot and humid days. When he got home hours later, I couldn’t believe it—he still smelled like the beautiful essential oil blend in the deodorant instead of body odour!

The scent is a grounding, fresh combination of:
🌲 Cedarwood
🌲 Fir Needle
🍊 Bergamot
🌿 with just a hint of Patchouli

As someone who loves creating natural skincare and body care products, moments like this make my heart so happy. It’s so rewarding when a formula performs the way I hoped it would.

I had an hour between clients today and couldn't wait to try out my new micas!

Since so many of you love Watermelon Crush, I decided to make a small test batch in both a lip gloss and a zinc lip balm.

As you can see, the color which was said to be a rich warm pink, doesn't look quite the same once it's mixed🤔

More testing is definitely needed to find shades I'm happy with, but that's all part of the process! Stay tuned—I'll be sharing my progress and any new colors I create along the way.

I was told that because my goal is to make zinc lip balms, these mica powders will naturally have a slightly muted, pastel look in the finished product.
