Prairie Mane has grown from a dream into something real — a place where women can feel confident, cared for, and a little more like themselves. This space is filled with heart, intention, and the kind of western warmth that feels like a quiet sunrise over the prairies.

Okay, babes, let’s talk about heat tool safety.

You know those high heat settings can harm your extensions, right??

The key to protecting your extensions from heat damage is to keep the settings LOW!! This means staying far away from the highest temperature setting on your heat tool.

Depending on your hair type, typically for finer, thinner hair: 250° - 300° should be enough. However, if your hair is thicker or textured, you may need to increase the temperature. And always make sure you’re working in small sections.

Additionally, ALWAYS use a heat protectant before using any heat tool on your hair extensions. Heat protectants help to shield your hair from the damaging effects of heat styling. It’s an easy and essential step to take to keep your extensions looking healthy and shiny.

And finally, try to limit the use of your heat tools to once between washes. After your hair is styled, we tend to add more products like hairspray, oils & dry shampoos. If we return with a heat tool afterwards, those products (especially the oils) can work against you making it harder to style.

Remember, healthy extensions are happy extensions!

First, l’d like to start by saying this is something I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

Colouring your new hair extensions can cause damage to the hair, as it has already been coloured and extensively processed; the outcome of colouring will be unknown to you and may not come out exactly as you had planned.

Remember that extensions are very porous and will suck up colour faster than most natural hair.

However, if you find it necessary, I suggest reading the following rules:

1- Always strand test.

2- Deposit colour; never bleach.

3- Stay within 2 shades of the colour.

4- Monitor closely.

5- Understand that it will shorten the life of your extensions

This look was curated for my lovely client using only 4 bundles of nano hair extensions in shade for a subtle, multi-toned balayage.

Style: Cut to an 18 inch length and I added face framing layers and light texture through the top row of extensions for a seamless finish

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬

Now that you’ve invested in great hair, it is important to follow home aftercare instructions to keep your hair feeling and looking good.

𝗕𝗥𝗨𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗛𝗔𝗜𝗥 𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦
Soft bristle brushes are the best for your hair as they don’t pull on your natural hair. Wide tooth combs can be used when the hair is wet, Hard plastic brushes should be avoided.

𝗪𝗔𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗛𝗔𝗜𝗥 𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦
As a general rule, the fewer times you wash, the longer the extensions will last. 1-2 washes a week is ideal. Dry shampoo is recommended to keep oil under control.
Lather your sulphate-free shampoo starting at the scalp through to the lengths of the extensions. Condition below the bonds on the lengths of the extensions only. Avoid the bond area, as conditioner can weaken the bonds when applied directly

𝗦𝗧𝗬𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗛𝗔𝗜𝗥 𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦
Straighteners, curling irons and hot rollers can be used as normal, but be sure to avoid touching the bonds with extreme heat. If you like to air dry your hair, be sure to blow dry the scalp (bond area completely dry and then allow the lengths to dry naturally on their own. The #1 cause of matting is allowing the bond area to remain damp or going to bed with wet hair.

𝗠𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦
It is CRITICAL that you attend your maintenance appointments. Going longer than the recommended period can cause tangling and damage to your hair.
Your touch-up/ re-tightening appointment should be scheduled as follows:

Thin or Delicate Hair Every: 6-8 weeks
Average Thickness Hair Every: 8-10 weeks
Thick, Dense, Strong Hair Every:10-12 weeks
