Happy Tuesday, Beauties!

Ingredient Spotlight: Olive Squalane

If you’ve ever tried one of our moisturizers or tallow products and thought, “My skin feels so incredibly soft… but not greasy,” there’s a good chance you have olive squalane to thank.

Olive squalane is one of my favourite ingredients because it delivers an incredible skin feel while quietly supporting healthy-looking skin.

💖 Lightweight and fast absorbing
💖 Helps support the skin’s natural moisture barrier
💖 Helps reduce moisture loss for longer-lasting hydration
💖 Leaves skin (and hair) feeling silky, velvety, and beautifully conditioned
💖 Suitable for nearly every skin and hair type

You’ll find olive squalane in many of our moisturizers and some of our tallow-based products, where it complements the richness of tallow by adding an elegant, lightweight finish. Together, they create products that nourish deeply while still feeling comfortable, never heavy or greasy.

So where does it come from?

Olive squalane begins with squalene, a naturally occurring lipid found in olive oil and even in our own skin. The squalene is carefully extracted and then converted into squalane through a process called hydrogenation. This process makes it far more stable and resistant to oxidation, giving it an impressively long shelf life while preserving the luxurious skin feel and performance that make it such a standout ingredient.

Sometimes it’s the quiet ingredients working behind the scenes that make the biggest difference. Olive squalane is one of those ingredients, and once you’ve experienced that silky, velvety finish, it’s easy to understand why it has earned a permanent place in so many of our formulations. 🌿

Happy 💨 Monday, Beauties! I hope you’re breathing easy today. I’m tucked away in the studio next to my air purifier.

Let’s chat for a bit about one of the most common ingredients in “natural” home remedies and skin care.

Why Doesn’t Miss Bliss Use More Coconut Oil? 🌴 🥥

People often ask why we don’t use coconut oil in more of our skincare products.

The answer is simple: we don’t think it’s the best choice for most leave-on skincare.

While coconut oil has become incredibly popular, it can feel heavy and greasy, absorbs slowly, may transfer onto clothing and bedding, and can clog pores for some skin types. Its rich texture often overpowers lighter oils, and because it solidifies at cooler temperatures, it can also change the consistency of products throughout the year. Some people are also sensitive or allergic to coconut and coconut-derived ingredients.

Instead, we carefully choose oils that absorb beautifully, feel silky rather than greasy, remain stable, and leave your skin feeling nourished, not coated.

🧼 There is one important exception: soap. During soapmaking, coconut oil is transformed through saponification, where it contributes incredible lather, hardness, cleansing power, and a longer-lasting bar. In soap, it truly shines.

You’ll also find a small amount of fractionated coconut oil in our massage oil. Unlike traditional coconut oil, it stays liquid, feels much lighter, absorbs more quickly, and provides excellent glide without the heavy finish. The long-chain fatty acids have been removed, leaving primarily medium-chain triglycerides.

We don’t avoid coconut oil because it’s “bad.” We simply believe there are better choices for most leave-on skincare. We prefer ingredients that absorb beautifully, leave skin feeling silky rather than greasy, work well across a wider range of skin types, and create a more elegant finished product. Coconut oil still has an important place in our handcrafted soap, where its unique properties truly shine.

Happy Friday, Beauties!! It’s going to be a beautiful weekend.

Fairview friends, I (regretfully) am unable to attend the rodeo market this weekend.

If you were hoping to find me down at the rodeo grounds, please message me and place your order.

I’ll be delivering to Fairview and area on Monday, July 20.

AND I’ll be down at Dunvegan on August 2 for our annual Fresh Air Market.

Where are all my patchouli lovers at? I’m whipping up a fresh batch of tallow this weekend for a special order.

I’ll have a few extra jars of whipped patchouli, along with a few extra jars of Coconut Bliss whipped…..and both scents in the serum also.

Comment “hippy” and I’ll message you our special pricing for these!

We will soon be moving into fall and winter scents (I know - it’s mind blowing how fast I have to make these changes), and so I will be selling out of coconut products very soon, until next summer!

Happy Tuesday, Beauties! I’ve been off galavanting in the bush and taking some time to myself. I’m back in the studio this week working hard on some new things.

One of my favourite parts of making skincare isn’t flashy at all.

It’s a row of jars filled with herbs, slowly resting in nourishing oils while they sit in a warm water bath.

There’s science behind the slow approach.

Plants contain many different natural compounds. Some are water-soluble, while others are oil-soluble. An oil infusion gently draws the oil-soluble compounds into the carrier oil, and gentle, consistent warmth helps that happen more efficiently without exposing the herbs or oils to unnecessary high temperatures.

Could I speed it up? Probably.

Do I want to? Not really.

Some things simply respond better to patience than pressure.

Over time, the colours deepen, the aromas become richer, and the oils slowly take on the unique character of the plants they’ve been spending time with.

For me, formulation is where science and nature meet. My job isn’t to rush the process, it’s to create the right conditions and let the plants do what they do best. 🌱

I am so blessed to be able to do what I do. I met two groups of fantastic ladies today! Teaching classes fills my soul with creativity and allows me share my craft with others. These girls were super crafty, and it’s great for me to watch. ❤️❤️

Everyone seemed to have a lot of fun and we are booking into September / October now.
