Meet the Team:

I’ve been doing hair for 24 years.
For a long time… I loved the work, but I didn’t love how the industry felt.
I always knew I wanted to build something different.
Right when I finally decided I would… my life stopped.
I got critically sick.
Nine weeks in a medically induced coma.
And a year learning how to live normally again.
When I came back, everything was gone.
My clients. My income. My momentum.
So I started over.
No investors. No plan.
Just a chair, my scissors, and people who believed in me.
That’s how Melo began.
At first it was simple — just doing hair with people I love and figuring it out as we went.
Then Covid happened…
and that’s when I realized this job is more than hair.
When people feel confident, they live differently.
And helping someone feel like themselves again actually matters.
That’s also when I understood — this couldn’t just be a passion project anymore.
I didn’t just want to make clients feel good.
I wanted stylists to feel proud of their careers.
I wanted a place where people felt heard when they sat in the chair…
and respected when they stood behind it.
This is our first year in this location.
But Melo isn’t a one-year story.
It’s 24 years of work… and 13 years of building.
And honestly…
we’re still just getting started.

Meet The Team: .hair

I grew up in a family of hairstylists, so this world was always around me, but I knew I wanted to become my own version of it. I was always the kid known for creating, the one moonwalking at school dances, choreographing for Dance Fest, painting murals across school windows. Always expressive, always free spirited, always bringing something to life.

In the beginning, I didn’t start in the right place. I was in a work place where I wasn’t let on the floor, and I knew I was capable of more, so I left and started over in a walk-in salon. That’s where I built myself. Client after client, mistake after mistake, going home to study, watching videos, then coming back better the next day. It was humbling, but it shaped me until I got good. Really good.

Now at Melo, I’ve stepped into everything I’ve worked for, refining my craft, building real trust with my clients, and fully owning who I am as a stylist.

I care deeply about the people in my chair. I pay attention, I show up fully, and I don’t take that trust lightly. When clients tell me I’m the only one they trust with their hair, it’s more than a compliment, it’s confirmation that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.

This career didn’t just teach me how to do hair, it showed me who I am. And I’m only getting started 🤍

Meet the Team:

Hi, I’m Katrina but you probably know me as Kate! I graduated from hair school over two years ago but my love for hair started much earlier. Since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved hands-on projects and anything creative. I started taking hair class in Grade 10, ever since then I’ve been doing hair and growing my skills in the industry. Specifically blonding, long layered cuts, extensions and lived in looks! This is where I landed at Melo, fresh out of college I asked Sarah if I could join the team and she welcomed me with open arms, ever since I’ve been growing and learning with the best in London (makes it easy in such a beautiful space).

Outside of the salon, I’m up for anything but you’ll probably find me thrifting, at the beach (soon baby soon) or spending time with the people I love — my boyfriend, family or doing something a little chaotic and fun with my friends. I’m also a big animal lover and have three dogs and two cats who keep life busy at home.

What makes me love my job is helping clients achieve hair that fits their style and makes them feel confident when they leave my chair! My books are open and I love seeing new faces come in so come join us, I’d love to help you love your hair!

Meet the Team:

I began my hairstyling journey in high school, through a co-op placement at a local salon. After being hired on when my placement finished, my passion for the industry truly took off. Six years into my career, I joined Sarah as she opened Melo, and nearly 14 years later, I’m still inspired by the salon’s growth, vision, and strong sense of teamwork. What makes this space so special is the supportive, uplifting environment.

Hairstyling fuels my creativity and love for artistry. I also enjoy the fact that no two days are ever the same. But most of all, I truly value the meaningful connections built with clients and the role we play in their lives—celebrating milestones, supporting them through challenges, and helping them feel confident along the way. While I enjoy all aspects of cutting, colouring, and styling, I specialize in lived-in colour and blonding- creating customized looks with precision and attention to detail.

When I’m not in the salon, you’ll find me enjoying life with my husband and our two sweet daughters. I love concerts, playing music, dancing and making memories with the people I love most.

When I joined Melo Hair & Beauty Bar I had no idea how much it would shape the direction of my career. Sarah hired me as a receptionist a few months before she had Maverick and although we had already been friends this was something completely new to me.

Funny enough, my spray tan journey began because Sarah suggested I get one before attending a wedding. I trusted her (as we all do), and after that appointment, something clicked. What started as a simple recommendation turned into a passion, and eventually into building my own spray tan business within the space that helped shape me.

I’m so grateful everyday to work with such an amazing and talented group of women, to greet and meet all the wonderful people that come in and being part of this community - and I truly believe the best is still ahead of us!
