Sometimes cravings ask us to slow down long enough to notice what we need.

Sometimes they can be a gentle signal to slow down and notice what’s happening around us—or within us.

Here’s a simple invitation:

Pause for a moment and notice your breath.

Then, if it feels comfortable, take two or three deeper breaths than you normally would.

Nothing dramatic or showy that anyone else would notice.

Just intentionally breathing a little deeper—perhaps noticing your chest or belly gently expand as you breathe.

Sometimes we think support has to be complicated.

But small practices can create meaningful shifts over time.

💙 Have you ever noticed a difference when you pause for a few deeper breaths?

A little reminder that nourishment can look different from day to day 💛

Sometimes it’s a meal.

Sometimes it’s rest.

And sometimes it’s making space for something creative or calming that helps us slow down and reconnect.

This knitting project (in progress) has been one of those moments for me lately 😊

What’s been bringing you a little nourishment lately?

We sometimes think progress with cravings means never wanting the food… or never eating it.

But real life is usually more nuanced than that.

Sometimes the win isn’t avoiding the food.

I love adding my favourite fruits to create a refreshing salad like this one 😋

It’s not perfectly styled or carefully curated—just colourful, nourishing, and layered in as I cut each ingredient.

The fruit pieces aren’t perfectly matched and I don’t spend much time thinking about presentation—I simply enjoy creating something fresh and satisfying.

I like to think of this as a gentle reminder that mindful eating isn’t about getting everything “right.”

Sometimes the win is noticing what we need, making a conscious choice, and eating with a little less guilt or inner struggle.

Mindful eating isn’t about perfection.

Sometimes the win is simply choosing, enjoying, and letting nourishment be enough.

It’s about awareness, choice, and compassion along the way 💛

Awareness doesn’t always mean the moment changes instantly.

Sometimes it simply means we notice.

And that noticing can be the beginning of understanding ourselves a little differently.

Have you ever noticed yourself wanting to eat even when you weren’t especially hungry?

Sometimes one insight about our cravings or eating patterns helps us understand something new.

And other times, it’s seeing how the different things we notice connect that creates a clearer picture.

Over the last little while, we’ve been exploring simple ideas around noticing patterns, understanding cravings, and slowing down before eating.

Each one matters on its own.

But together, they can help us understand our eating experiences with a little more awareness—and a little more compassion 💛

Have you ever had a moment where different things you noticed suddenly started making more sense when you looked at them together?

Recently, I noticed myself wanting to eat something even though I had eaten about an hour earlier.

I wasn’t exactly hungry.

But eating something still felt comforting in the moment.

That small moment reminded me how quickly these patterns can happen—especially during stressful or busy seasons.

Sometimes awareness doesn’t instantly change the moment.

But it can help us begin understanding what’s happening underneath it.

Have you ever noticed yourself craving something even when you weren’t physically hungry?

The more we slow down and notice, the more we begin to see.

Sometimes cravings and eating patterns reveal themselves slowly - in small moments throughout the day.

You begin noticing patterns you didn’t really pay attention to before.

Maybe meals have become more repetitive than you realized.

Maybe cravings show up at the same times or in the same situations.

Maybe slowing down—even briefly—changes the moment more than expected.

As you reflect on the past little while, you might ask yourself:

• What patterns have I been noticing lately?
• Which idea has stayed with me the most so far?

You don’t need to figure everything out all at once.

Sometimes simply noticing is where change begins.

You notice the craving… and still go ahead

That moment can feel frustrating.

Because it’s not that you don’t know what to do.

And it’s not that you don’t care.

It just happens quickly.

Automatically.

But often, what you’re reaching for isn’t just about food.

It might be:
rest
a break
something familiar
a way to shift how you’re feeling

And that’s where a small check-in can help.

Before you eat, try asking:

👉 What do I actually need right now?

Not to judge yourself.

Just to understand the moment a little more clearly.

Trying to eat “better”… but it still feels hard?

You’re not alone.

A lot of the time, it’s not about knowing what to eat.

It’s about where you’re starting from.

Instead of changing everything right away,
try something simpler:

👉 just notice what you’re already eating

One way to do that is by paying attention to the colours on your plate.

Not to judge it.
Not to fix it.

Just to see it more clearly.

That awareness alone can start to shift things—gently, over time.

This might look simple…

but it’s more powerful than it seems.

When we slow down enough to notice—

even something like words on a page—

we start building awareness.

And awareness is where change begins.

The same thing happens with cravings.

The more you notice what’s going on

(hunger, stress, habit, energy),

the easier it becomes to understand what your body is actually asking for.

Sometimes it doesn’t start with doing more—

it starts with noticing more.
