Our New Product - Whole Fruit & Vegetable Natural Wash

Not everyone can grow their own fruits & vegetables where they live.

Adding Lavenbel's NEW Whole Fruit & Vegetable Natural Wash to your cleansing routine removes surface impurities that may not be visible on the skin of your whole foods.

Harnessing the natural power of apple vinegar and apple amino acids, this formula was inspired by nature's orchard.

Combined with lavender floral water, it provides the foundation for the natural wash formula, allowing you to enjoy the freshness of your whole foods this season.

You can find it for the first time this Saturday at the Metcalfe Farmers' Market, where we are the featured vendor for the opening. You can also find us at the Westboro Ottawa Farmers' Market & the Carp Farmers' Market.

An Annual Springtime Tradition: Timing the Winter Cover Removal (Hibertex Pro)

About 4 weeks ago, Monia Otis and Matthew Steiche decided that this was the time to start spring fieldwork at our Lavenbel Field in North Glengarry, ON, and remove the winter blankets protecting our English & French lavender.

Farmers' Almanacs around the world caution that there is always a risk of an unexpected, flash frost before the May Full Moon (A Flower Moon on May 1, 2026).

Research Scientists at the University of Guelph's Agricultural College's Department of Plant Agriculture regularly consult for Ontario Lavender Association members, teaching us to adapt yearly with our changing Canadian climate. How? Being open-minded and actively remove the blankets at a calculated moment each year, allowing the hibernating plants to awaken safely with the natural springtime stimulation of the sun and wind.

But, the risk of removing the blankets too early exposes the delicate plants to harsh rains, soil erosion, and wind damage that, in unison, which can uproot the shallow roots of the young lavender planted in the row hills.

Lavenbel Field experienced all these conditions in April 2026, but only a few of our shrubs perished...

I wanted to share a video I took when we removed the Hibertex covers from our English & French lavender on April 24th.

Matthew can share that after 4 weeks exposed to the springtime weather, they are now looking nice and green. We should have a wonderful bll this season.

We will host the Volunteer Harvest & Picnic again this year. If you would like to join us for the experience and help with the English lavender harvest, we would love to have you. Send me a direct message.

Queen Victoria had an obsession with all things lavender. She also had a fondness for Scotland, tartans, and its people. She spent a considerable amount of time in the North of the United Kingdom.

Unfortunately, Queen Victoria did not have the same access to Lavenbel's local, natural self-care and skincare products as you do.

During the Victorian Era, the English used lavender in their homes for its clean, fresh scent by hanging lavender bundles in every room, placing lavender sachets in dresser drawers, and washing their linens in lavender essential oils. Queen Victoria loved lavender so much that she had it strewn on her floor, so when she and her maids stepped upon it, it would release a calming aroma into the room - a form of aroma therapy in its purest form.
