Madeline Piujuq Ivalu was an inspiring Inuk filmmaker, actress, storyteller, writer, and Elder from Igloolik. She helped create space for Inuit voices in film and was a co-founder of Arnait Video Productions, a collective whose name means “women helping each other.” Through her work, she has helped preserve Inuit stories, language, culture, and knowledge for future generations.

Madeline Ivalu co-directed and starred in the Before Tomorrow, and also worked on films like Uvanga and Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner. Her work often explores themes of family, Inuit traditions, identity, resilience, and life in Inuit communities.

Madeline Ivalu's work is more than filmmaking, it is storytelling, teaching, and protecting Inuit knowledge for generations to come. 🖤
