Keeping your hair colour vibrant isn’t just about what happens at the salon—it’s all about how you treat it afterward. Here’s how to make your colour last longer and stay fresh:
- When you do wash:
* Use sulfate-free, colour-safe shampoo
* Rinse with cool or lukewarm water (hot water strips colour)
- Coloured hair tends to be drier, which makes it fade faster.
* Use a deep conditioning mask once a week
* Add a leave-in conditioner for daily protection
* Look for ingredients like argan oil, keratin, or shea butter
- Heat tools and sun exposure dull your colour.
* Always use a heat protectant before styling
* Wear a hat or use UV-protect hair sprays in strong sun
- Be careful with chlorine & hard water
* Wet your hair before swimming to reduce chlorine absorption
* Use a swim cap if possible
* Consider a shower filter if your water is hard (it can dull colour)
- Refresh your colour between appointments
* Use colour-depositing conditioners or masks
* Purple shampoo for blondes, blue for brunettes, red-enhancing for red hair
* Try a gloss treatment for shine and tone
- Trim & avoid over-processing
