Where should the Jewish tradition of the breaking of the glass go in a wedding ceremony?

I get asked all the time, and I’ve got a pretty specific answer: right near the very end, after the closing remarks and just before the final presentation of the couple.

Why? Because the shout of “Mazel tov!” releases so much joyful energy in the room, and that energy flows beautifully into everyone standing, the couple being presented, and the recessional.

In this post, I walk through the exact order I recommend, why it works so well, and a sample script for explaining the tradition.

One of the easiest referrals for a venue to make is the one that's sitting right in front of them.

Business cards.

Rack cards.

A simple piece of marketing material they can hand to a couple when the question comes up.

Make it easy for vendors to recommend you.

If you're trying to get more weddings, don't wait for couples to magically find you.

Get to know venue owners.
Meet planners.
Show up at business events.

The people who work in weddings are often the people who create the best referrals.

Not all referrals are equal.

A wedding guest referral is valuable.

A couple referral is even stronger.

But vendor referrals are the gold standard.

When a planner, photographer, DJ, or venue recommends you, they're putting their own reputation behind that recommendation.

Your payment policy doesn’t need to feel uncomfortable.
It just needs to be clear.
This is how I handle retainers, final payments, cancellations, and refunds so everybody knows what to expect from the start.

My failsafe wedding officiant process is about connecting the steps.

Each action leads to the next one. Nothing gets missed because the process carries it forward.

That’s what makes it feel steady.

If it's two weeks before and one person hasn’t filled out their questionnaire, you don’t need to guess what to do next.

You can see it, resend it to just them, and keep things moving.

That’s the system.
