On top of welcoming our incredible clients, we’ve had the opportunity to host a handful of special moments in our space. From our grand opening celebration to birthdays, workshops, and gatherings that truly brought the salon to life. Creating a space that feels warm, inspiring, and communal has always been the goal, and we can’t wait to host more events here in the years ahead.

This year also meant welcoming both familiar and new faces, and there’s nothing better than seeing people light up the moment they walk through our doors. That feeling is exactly why we do what we do.

At the heart of Locks & Co. is our team. Starting a business comes with learning curves and challenges, and from the very beginning, this group showed up with commitment, talent, and so much care. They are steady, creative, hardworking, and genuinely supportive of one another. Locks & Co. would not be what it is without them. They are the heartbeat of this space, and we are endlessly grateful to build this with such an incredible group of humans.

A serial entrepreneur with 12+ years building businesses from the ground up. From marketing agencies to construction companies to coffee roasting and cafés, Mike has turned big ideas into thriving realities time and again. And now? He’s bringing that same energy into the hair game.

🚀 The Protégés: Johnny & Grant 🚀

Every shop has its future legends — and at Locks & Co, that’s Johnny & Grant.

These two local youths came through the doors day one and never looked back. Fun fact: Grant actually met Owen at Church’s Chicken near the shop and told him, “Yo, you’ve got nice hair.” The rest? History in the making. 🙌

From sweeping floors and cleaning mirrors to making coffee runs and hauling towels to the laundromat, they put in the grind while soaking up every lesson from the crew. And they never missed a single day.

Now they’re sharpening their skills on the clippers — young gurus with the drive, discipline, and hunger to carve their place in the game. In three years their books will be open… and trust us, you’ll want to lock in before they’re fully booked. 💈🔥

💇‍♀️ Stylist Spotlight: Christina 💇‍♀️

"Hi, I’m Christina. I’ve been in the hair industry for 18 years, and my journey started back in grade 10 at Carson Graham Secondary. From there, I went on to study at JCI and continued my training at Suki’s Advanced Academy. Education has always been important to me, and I make a point to take new courses every year to stay current and continually grow in my craft. I’m also a certified Hotheads extension specialist.

What I love most about doing hair is helping people feel more confident and beautiful. As someone with fine hair myself, I understand how powerful a great set of extensions can be—they can truly transform how you feel about yourself. Being able to give that to someone else is incredibly rewarding.

Some of the most meaningful moments in my career have been working with brides and seeing the emotion on their faces when they look in the mirror. It’s a privilege to be part of those moments, and it’s one of the reasons I love what I do so much."

I’m not sure if my years of experience should include doing my dolls and Barbie's hair as a child, but it definitely laid the foundation. I’ve been doing hair professionally for approx 10+ years and work in the film industry. Aside from owning Locks and Co, I also run an education platform called The Texture Workshops which teaches fellow hairstylists more education and techniques for curly and coily hair textures. I love making people feel their best whether it’s styling for a girls night out, a special event or getting into character for a film. 🖤
