The day octopus (Octopus cyanea) is one of the most intelligent animals found on the reef. It can instantly change both color and texture to blend into coral, rocks, or sand while hunting and avoiding predators. Unlike many octopus species that are mostly active at night, the day octopus often hunts during daylight hours, exploring the reef with incredible awareness and curiosity. Watching one move through the underwater world always feels like witnessing something truly alien 🌊
