I’ve had a few messages about posts claiming that cosmetic anti-wrinkle injections can cause long-term nervous system damage.
It’s an important conversation, but it needs balance.
Yes, botulinum toxin is a medicine.
Yes, it has risks.
Yes, rare serious complications can happen.
But a laboratory mechanism being discussed online is not the same as proof that cosmetic treatment commonly causes long-term nerve damage.
The recognised safety concern is called distant spread of toxin effect.
This is rare, but symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, slurred speech, breathing problems, double vision or marked generalised weakness should always be taken seriously and need urgent medical advice.
This is exactly why proper medical assessment, licensed products, safe prescribing, correct dosing and anatomical knowledge matter.
Anti-wrinkle treatment is not just a quick jab. It is a prescription medicine and should be treated with respect.
Balanced information matters. Fear does not help people make safe decisions.

LED phototherapy is one of those treatments that can look deceptively simple.
You sit under a light, it feels relaxing, and yes, your skin can look calmer and brighter afterwards.
But in clinic, I don’t see LED as just a nice extra.
I use the Dermalux Compact Lite as part of a proper skin journey, where appropriate. That might be to support redness, breakouts, inflammation, skin barrier recovery, or to help the skin settle after treatments such as microneedling or peels.
The important bit is this: LED works best when it sits within a sensible plan.
That means looking at your skin history, your current skincare, your goals, your triggers, your medication, your barrier health and what your skin actually needs.
It is not UV light.
It is not a sunbed.
It is not magic.
And it is not a replacement for medical assessment when your skin needs more than a beauty treatment.
But used properly, with the right device, the right timing and the right clinical judgement, LED can be a brilliant support for healthier, calmer and more resilient skin.
Because good skin treatment is rarely about one isolated appointment.
It is about building a plan that actually makes sense for your skin.
To book a skin consultation or LED session, visit the website or send me a message.

A small update about messages.
I am genuinely grateful that so many people trust me enough to message for medical advice.
To be clear, simple messages are still absolutely fine. If you need a booking link, want to check availability, ask about prices, need directions or you are not sure which appointment to book, please do still message me.
But some enquiries need more than a quick reply.
If your question involves photos, medical history, treatment suitability, a skin concern, a lesion, weight loss, hair loss, or “what do you think I should do?”, I need proper time and context to answer safely.
So going forward, if I have not seen you in clinic within the last 6 months, I won’t be able to give detailed clinical advice over social media or WhatsApp messages.
That is not me being unhelpful or awkward.
It is about making sure advice is safe, appropriate and properly documented. It also means I can send consultation notes afterwards, rather than important advice being lost in a long chain of messages.
For more involved enquiries, you can book either a 20 minute telephone advice call or a face-to-face consultation via my website. Both are £30.
The fee is payable at the time of booking and is non-refundable.
Thank you for understanding and for valuing my time.

Peptides are becoming a much bigger part of the wellness and aesthetics conversation.
Some people are using them for recovery, inflammation, fat loss, muscle growth, tanning, sleep, skin quality or anti-ageing. Some are prescribed. Some are topical. Some are injectable. Some are bought online with very little regulation.
This is not a judgement post.
But it is something I am going to start asking about more specifically in consultation.
Why? Because peptides may influence things like healing, bruising, swelling, inflammation, pigment response, scarring risk, immune reactions and how predictable a treatment outcome is.
That matters if we are planning treatments such as skin boosters, polynucleotides, microneedling, RF microneedling, peels, injectables or minor surgery.
It does not automatically mean you cannot have treatment.
It means I need the full picture so I can assess risk properly and keep your treatment as safe as possible.
So if you are using peptides, whether that is BPC-157, TB-500, CJC-1295, ipamorelin, GHK-Cu, Melanotan or anything similar, please tell me.
No shame. No lecture.
Just honest clinical history and safer treatment planning.

Lovely day today at The Clinic by La Ross for a networking and training event facilitated by The Nurses Network.
We covered full face rejuvenation, had a closer look at Jalupro, and I even got to experience a treatment from the patient side, which is always useful. It is one thing to offer treatments, but it is another to understand how they actually feel.
We also had a really informative session from Relife about their skin and injectable product range.
Days like this are so valuable. Not just for the training, but for being in a room with other professionals who care about learning properly, asking questions, improving standards and sharing experience.
Always learning. Always refining. Always trying to bring the best back to clinic.
Thank you to everyone involved for such a welcoming and useful day.
A little behind the scenes from one of my favourite minor surgery procedures.
This patient had two lipomas removed, one from each thigh, after assessment and ultrasound in my CQC registered clinic at Elizabeth Aesthetics.
Lipomas are benign fatty lumps that are often harmless, but they can become uncomfortable, irritating, or simply something people would rather not live with.
Removal involves a small incision, careful expression of the lipoma, checking for bleeding, and closing the skin with stitches. I then review the wound around a week later and remove the sutures.
Unpleasant medical images included, but if you enjoy oddly satisfying minor surgery content, this one is for you.
Questions about lipomas or minor surgery? Pop them in the comments.

The sun is not the enemy.
But pretending UV damage is harmless is not helping anyone.
Skin cancer does not happen because your skin got warm. It happens because ultraviolet radiation can damage the DNA inside your skin cells. Over time, and with repeated exposure, that damage can build up.
Sunburn is an obvious sign of injury, but you do not have to burn for UV damage to occur.
This is why sunscreen, shade, hats, sunglasses and sensible sun habits matter. Not because we should all live indoors, but because prevention is far easier than dealing with the consequences later.
Enjoy the sun.
Just respect it.
Save this as a reminder before the next sunny day.

This is not the glossy side of running a clinic, but it is probably one of the most important.
I have been building Oscare Wellness for around five years now. I am proud of what I have built, but I have not got here because everything has gone perfectly.
I have made mistakes.
I have had moments where I have looked back and thought, I could have explained that better. I could have documented that better. I could have safety-netted that better. I could have changed my process sooner.
I have also seen complications and difficult moments in clinic.
Bruising. Swelling. Reactions. Delayed healing. Bleeding. Infection risk. Unexpected outcomes. Anxious clients who needed more support than I had anticipated.
That is the reality of clinical practice.
Those moments are uncomfortable, but they matter. They have changed how I practise. They have made me more detailed with consent, more specific with aftercare, more thorough with medical history and more willing to pause when something does not feel right.
I am not interested in pretending to be perfect.
What matters to me is that I keep learning, keep reflecting and keep improving.
Safe practice is not built from confidence alone.
It is built from accountability, humility, clinical judgement and the willingness to keep improving, especially when things have not gone perfectly.
