Resetting After the Summer Holidays

The summer holidays were amazing, but now it’s coming to time to ease back into our routines.

Something’s to think about when resetting for a fresh start:

1️⃣ Start Small: Big changes don’t happen overnight! Focus on small, manageable steps – a little progress each day adds up. Think a year from now 1 pound a week could be 52 pounds down!

2️⃣ Make a Plan: setting intentions and creating a plan that feels right for you. A clear path helps turn goals into reality.

3️⃣ Be Kind to Yourself: Giving yourself grace in this transition. It’s okay if everything doesn’t happen perfectly. Progress over perfection! As long as you’re always striving to be that little bit better. It will add up.

4️⃣ Enjoy the Process: Finding joy in the journey is key! Celebrating the little wins and enjoying the ride. 🌼

Let’s take this new season slowly, one step at a time, and make it something beautiful.

Overcoming Limiting Beliefs in Starting an Exercise Programme

Starting an exercise programme can be a transformative experience, but many people face limiting beliefs that prevent them from beginning or sticking with it. These mental barriers can hinder progress and rob individuals of the physical and mental benefits of regular exercise. Let’s explore some common limiting beliefs and how to overcome them.

1. “I can’t do it.”
Believing that you can’t exercise is a self-fulfilling prophecy. It’s important to start with small, achievable goals. Try a short walk or a beginner’s yoga class. Every small step builds confidence and proves that you can do it. How about a dance to your favourite song?

2. “It’s too late to start.”
Whether you’re in your 30s, 50s, or beyond, it’s never too late to start exercising. Studies show that physical activity can benefit people of all ages, improving mobility, strength, and mental health. Begin with gentle activities like walking or stretching and gradually increase intensity.

3. “I’m too old to start.”
Age should not be a barrier to physical activity. Many older adults find that starting an exercise routine helps them feel younger, more energetic, and healthier. Consult with a healthcare provider to find the best exercises for your age and fitness level. Our strength and balance exercises maybe for you.

4. “I can’t stick to a routine.”
Consistency is key to seeing results, but it’s okay to start small. Set realistic goals, such as exercising twice a week, and gradually build up. Find activities you enjoy to make it easier to stick with your routine. If one day goes wrong you have 6 others in the week!

To name a few! Remember the most important step is the first. Where do you start? Then it’s the next step infront of you. You can do it. ☺️

🌟 Weight Loss Tip: Mastering Food Labels! 🌟

Starting your weight loss journey? Understanding food labels is KEY! Here’s a quick guide to get started:

1. Check Serving Sizes📏: Always note the serving size at the top. It can be easy to consume more calories if you’re not careful! It’s normally under serving suggestions.

2. Calories Count🔥: Pay attention to the calories per serving. This helps you manage your daily intake and stay on track with your goals. Make sure you compare foods which are similar by reading the per 100g column and comparing those. It’s really good when looking at lighter versions compared to standard.

3. Look at the Macronutrients 🍽️:
- Protein: Essential for muscle repair and growth.
- Carbs: Choose complex carbs for sustained energy.
- Fats: Focus on healthy fats like those from avocados and nuts.

4. Watch the Sugars 🍬: Added sugars can sneak into many foods. Aim for products with lower added sugars to avoid unnecessary calories. You might be surprised at your foods levels of sugar. Comment below anything you find surprising!

5. Fibre is Your Friend 🌾: High-fibre foods keep you full longer and support digestive health. Look for at least 3g of fibre per serving.

6. Beware of Sodium🧂: High sodium can lead to water retention and high blood pressure. Opt for lower-sodium options when possible.

7. Ingredients List 📝: The fewer ingredients, the better! Look for whole foods and avoid those with a long list of unrecognizable items. If you can grow it pick it or harvest you are onto a winner.

Start small, and soon you’ll be a pro at picking the healthiest options! We are really interested in any surprises you find.

Mines always how many spoonfuls of sugar is in a McDonald’s milkshake. Does anyone know?

Stretching offers several benefits for beginners who are starting to exercise:

1. Improves Flexibility: Stretching helps increase the range of motion in joints and muscles, which can be particularly beneficial for individuals who may have restricted movement due to excess weight or being sedentary.

2. Reduces Risk of Injury: Stretching before and after exercise can help prepare muscles and joints for activity, reducing the likelihood of injuries such as strains or sprains.

3. Enhances Circulation: Stretching promotes better blood flow to muscles, which can aid in recovery and reduce muscle soreness after exercise.

4. Supports Better Posture: Regular stretching can improve posture by lengthening tight muscles and strengthening weak ones, which is essential for overall body alignment and function.

5. Increases Relaxation and Reduces Stress: Stretching can help relax the body and mind, lowering stress levels and promoting a sense of well-being. This is particularly beneficial for beginners who may feel anxious about starting an exercise routine.

6. Aids in Weight Loss: While stretching itself doesn’t burn a lot of calories, it prepares the body for more intense physical activity and can help improve performance in aerobic and strength-training exercises, which contribute to weight loss.

7. Improves Coordination and Balance: Regular stretching can enhance proprioception (the sense of body position), which is crucial for maintaining balance and coordination, especially for those who might be at higher risk of falls.

8. Promotes Better Sleep: Stretching, particularly before bed, can help relax the body and mind, leading to improved sleep quality, which is important for overall health and weight management.

Incorporating a regular stretching routine can create a foundation for a more active lifestyle and help beginners ease into more vigorous forms of exercise with greater confidence and safety. Have you tried stretching?
