Behind the treatment room, the business, and the day to day chaos, I’m also just a girl learning to prioritise her own wellbeing.
When I’m not in the clinic, you’ll usually find me outside with my four legged friends, soaking up some fresh air, sunshine, and a healthy dose of Vitamin D. Nature has always been one of my favourite ways to slow down, reset, and reconnect with myself.
Over the last year, life has been full, one house move (with plenty of DIY still ongoing!), one business move, and a complete studio renovation. Somewhere amongst the excitement and responsibility, I realised I had stopped making time for myself.
What showed up first? My skin.
As a Functional Skin Health Practitioner, I’m always talking about the connection between internal health and skin health, yet I found myself experiencing the very thing I educate my clients on every day. Increased stress, a dysregulated nervous system, and the physical impact that can have on the body.
One of the first questions I ask when working with inflammatory skin conditions is: “How are your stress levels?”
Stress doesn’t just affect how we feel mentally. It can influence digestion, nutrient absorption, hormone balance, inflammation, sleep quality, and ultimately the health of our skin. When the body is constantly operating in a stressed state, it becomes much harder for the skin to function and repair optimally.
This is your reminder that skin health isn’t just about the products you use. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do for your skin is slow down, regulate your nervous system, spend time outdoors, move your body, and create moments of calm.
For me, that looks like time with my horse, long walks with my dog, fresh air, and allowing myself to switch off for a while.
Because healthy skin starts with a healthy, supported body. ✨
