sometimes clients will show me a mood board of nails for me to get inspired by, as a new nail tech this can be so so intimidating and it’s definitely tempting to just copy an exact set that they’ve shown you as you know they’ll like it

however, I think when clients do this, they’re asking you to give them something ‘like these, but different’ - they want a set truly unique to them, which is exciting and fun!

so, my top tips if you’re given a mood board and don’t know where to start:
💖 establish a common design (in this set it was flowers, abstract and check)
💖 establish the common colours (in this set they were pastels with pops of bright)
💖 vibe check: are these ‘it girl’ nails, or ‘funky 70s’ etc

once you’ve established these 3 things, it’s MUCH easier to design a set in your mind for your client, ultimately just have fun with it and check along the way that your client loves it too

the next set in series 💖 these nails are for all you funky brides/grooms/nearlywed/celebrant/marrier (the last three are gender neutral terms for someone getting married, reminder that I’m she/her and I’m using bride for myself)

I decided to do these pics as super close up shots, my work isn’t perfect but I’m proud of it. We often only see perfect work on insta and it’s too much pressure!! I love these nails bc they’re cute, funky and totally cool girl vibes

Christ alive, this has been a week and a half 😂😂😂

this week has had some ups and downs, we started the week off well, with Monday being chilled and easy. Then on Tuesday we saw *that* negative review (if you haven’t seen it, check our 2* review on Google lol). My first emotional response to it was pure hurt I’m not gonna lie. Izzy is one of my best friends and to see her get taken down like that made me so so upset. I don’t reallllly care if it negatively effects peoples perception of the studio (I know we are kind, funny, helpful girls who run a super fu***ng great studio). I was just worried that someone can so easily hurt the people I care about 🥲 (btw Izzy is actually fine lol she knows she’s fab)

However !! Something beautiful has came from it. Other small businesses have reached out to show us their support (and offer us a sign lol), our engagement has increased on Instagram bc people were outraged by it and have sent us approx. 7282992 DM’s of support (thank you ❤️). Aaandddd lots of you flooded to leave us lovely Google reviews to combat this nasty one.

Lastly, this week we have decorated for Halloween (swipe to see our weathered 🤭 door with spooky decs on it) annddd created a retail space in the studio !! Pics to come when I can take them in good lightning haha.

So overall, this week has evened out to be a pretty bloody good one. Aaand it’s only Thursday!! So here’s to the weekend coming, thank you all for being so fu***ng great
