Amelia's heart journey

We escaped reality a little this week and headed off on a caravan holiday ❤️
After everything life has thrown at us , it was so special to step away, make memories, and just enjoy being together. Our Amazing boys had an absolute ball, and seeing them carefree and happy meant the world to us.
And our beautiful Amelia? She has truly been living her best life 🥹 From smiles and adventures to soaking up every moment, she absolutely loved it. Seeing her happy, making memories and simply being a child is something we’ll never take for granted.

Amelia update 💛

We’ve had such a wonderful few weeks, just enjoying precious quality time together as a family.

Amelia is doing amazingly well. Today she had her PICC line removed—such a huge milestone for her! We’re now on reviews every two months, and it really feels like things can only keep improving from here.

Without the PICC line, she can finally enjoy simple things like baths and splashing around without worrying about getting her dressing wet. No more weekly dressing changes, and a little less fear of infection. It’s a small step in some ways, but for us it lifts a big weight of stress and worry.

She’s still on her feeds and water top-ups, but we’re hopeful that as she continues to improve, her intake will too. It would be so incredible to see her beautiful face without the NG tube one day.

Two years ago our fit and healthy baby girl suddenly became unwell and was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy. In a moment, our whole world changed.

We hoped medication would help Amelia, but sadly it wasn’t enough. The only way she could survive was with a heart transplant. She had to be supported by a Berlin Heart while we waited and hoped for the call that could save her life.

Nearly a year ago, that call came. Amelia received the most incredible gift — a new heart — from a brave and selfless family who chose to say yes to organ donation during the most difficult time of their lives.

Because of that decision, our little girl is here today.

We were told she may have 15–20 years, but we hold onto hope that medicine continues to move forward and that Amelia will be given many more years to grow, laugh, and live her life.

Heart transplantation saves lives. Organ donation saves families. Our family is living proof of that.
