Not everyone talks about waxing openly, but plenty of people quietly appreciate the option of having less body hair.

At Natural Balance Therapies we have a small waxing team — Christian, Lorena and myself. Between us we see people for all sorts of reasons: holidays, sport, comfort, confidence, or just personal preference.

And just to say… if you like body hair, that’s great too. There’s absolutely no rule that says you should remove it. But if having a wax would make you feel a bit more comfortable or confident, we’re here to help.

Be more Loki! This is Loki, our cat, basking in the sunshine this morning, stretching, chilled and content. This is his natural state when not in fight or flight mode and he’s a master at switching between states in a matter of seconds. Our natural state should be this too, but our bodies often get stuck in anxiety, even when we don’t need to be tense, ready for action. A simple thought can put us back into fight or flight mode .. even when there is no immediate or local stressor. This tension has no benefit and can actually render us less able to cope or think with clarity and perspective. Massage isn’t about forcing your body to relax. “I have had a big bust all my life, and although I have always tried to celebrate my figure, there is a downside to having this body shape… backache, shoulder and neck pain and overdeveloped lower back muscles.
I am now on a journey to strengthen my upper back and shoulder muscles to help balance my back out and put an end to back pain.
Once or twice a month, I have a massage at Natural Balance… And there’s nothing more restoring for my neck and shoulders than a deep tissue massage from Mark in a very relaxing atmosphere. When I arrive at the treatment room, music is playing to soothe my mind and help me unwind. The scent of sandalwood hangs in the air. The muscles in my neck and shoulders are tight, stiff and very painful, but slowly, I feel them ease under Mark’s soothing restorative hands. As he applies pressure to my muscles, I feel a pain deep down inside, and I know it’s working. I can feel the motion of his fingers breaking down the knots in my shoulders and the tightness in my neck.
On occasion, I also have heat applied to my muscles with either hot stones or a heated wheat pillow. I cannot begin to explain how wonderfully therapeutic this feels. The heat seems to melt the pain away.
