Thank you for coming to my ted talk 😅
But in all seriousness (and sorry for getting angry!) but why are we will using Facetune in 2026? Even if you think it’s not obvious, it is.
My tips for getting a good photo of your makeup:
• client needs to be in natural light where possible.
• if this isn’t possible, use a handheld light like to get the right lighting
• if the makeup still doesn’t look right, let’s correct in person! Nobody is going to mind if you put on a teeny bit more blush, or concealer. Your client will actually thank you!
I’ve been on the end where a filtered photo of me was added to Instagram and it made me feel like I wasn’t good enough. And if I could feel like that, imagine how your client could feel too.
Let me know your thoughts on this as I know it’s a huge topic! 💖
I’ll go back to being a 6/10 tomorrow with all my old expired stuff… 😅
Genuinely though, do you ever do your own makeup with your kit and think “wow, I should actually buy some of this for myself”? Or do you treat yourself to the good stuff always?

I’ve seen a lot of talk about business costs and expenses so I thought I’d share mine 😱😱
This is of course the rough figures (and I forgot to add on the fees for my accountant which comes to over £400…), but does this surprise you?
Every time I do my tax return, I am shooketh by my own figures 🙈
But I think clarity is important as these are all the expenses before I pay myself, my bills, days out, food etc.
Running a makeup business is not cheap, especially for those of us who do this full time with no other source of income. Let me know if you are shocked by this?
(Thanks for prompting me to do my tax return 😂)
Advice for the brides who want to do their own wedding makeup.
1. You need to practice. I got it wrong in the video. was practising for over a year before doing her wedding makeup.
2. Give yourself way more time on the day than you think you need. It might usually only take you 20 minutes to do your makeup, but it’s much better to have extra time! Also schedule the time in the morning that you will do it.
3. Don’t try anything new on your wedding day that you didn’t try before.
4. Have a plan for your bridesmaids too.
The DIY route might seem cheaper, but you will probably spend just as much, if not more, buying all the products you need to try out your makeup over time.
Your wedding day morning is also so crucial to how relaxed, happy and confident you feel on the day. And your makeup artist can help you feel relaxed, calm and ready!
If you really can’t find someone who fits your style, or you do really want to do it yourself, maybe get a makeup lesson with a bridal artist who can help you with what products to buy, and how to do your makeup, and then practice practice practice!!
