You might think you have dry skin… but do you actually? 🤍
There’s a big difference between true dry skin, dehydrated skin, and a damaged barrier… and treating the wrong one won’t get you the results you’re after.
Signs of true dry skin:
⚪️Flaky and matte in appearance
⚪️Thin, almost parchment-like texture
⚪️Feels taut and tight
⚪️Easily irritated
⚪️Milia around the eyes, temples and upper cheeks
If that sounds like you, here’s what actually helps:
✅ Swap to a cream, balm or milk cleanser - ditch anything foamy or stripping
✅Use a lipid-rich moisturiser with ceramides, cholesterol and essential fatty acids
✅ Support your skin from within - eat a diet rich in omegas and fatty acids
✅Always finish with SPF - dry skin shows UV damage faster

NOOANCE 💡A newer mask that’s getting increasingly popular… and after looking at the specs, I can see why.
254 LEDs, flexible silicone, built-in eye protection, and crucially a full technical sheet. Transparent specs are genuinely rare in this space, and it makes a real difference when you’re trying to evaluate a device properly.
No blue light, but as we’ve covered in this series, that’s only relevant if acne is a concern and it’s appropriate for your skin.
At £499 it’s the most expensive mask I cover in this series. But if your budget stretches to it, it earns its price tag more honestly than most.
Let’s talk about the Spectra Light SpectraWear Pro by Dr Dennis Gross 💫
Dermatologist-created sounds impressive. But does it actually mean the device is more effective? Not necessarily.
It’s a powerful, rigid device and it does offer amber light. But amber isn’t a wavelength with strong clinical backing, so that’s not the selling point it might appear to be.
At £465 it sits at a higher price point, and for what it offers, it wouldn’t be my first recommendation.
There are better options for the investment.
CurrentBody Series 2 💡✨ One of the most searched LED masks out there but does it actually deliver?
This mask ticks a lot of the right boxes. Flexible silicone, a separate chin piece for better fit, red and near infrared wavelengths with tested accuracy, and technology that’s actually backed by evidence.
No blue light (but unless you have acne and it’s appropriate for your skin, you don’t need it)
At £399.99 it’s one of the more accessible options at this level, and it’s genuinely comfortable to wear consistently. Consistency is everything with LED.
A solid all-rounder.

The Ordinary is one of the best budget ranges out there.
These are three of my expert-approved picks and what they’re actually best for… because powerful actives used incorrectly won’t give you the results you’re looking for.

This one might save you some money 💡
When it comes to buying an LED mask, ignore the marketing. Ignore the number of colours. Not all of them are backed by evidence anyway.
Here’s what to actually look for:
🔍 The specs behind the mask - wavelength, irradiance, and energy dose.
⏱️ Practicality - a mask you won’t use consistently won’t give you results, no matter how good the technology.
💸 Price isn’t everything - expensive does not automatically mean better.

They’re super popular… but what do they actually do?
Comment LED and I’ll send you the full guide!
If you’ve been eyeing an LED mask but have no idea what it actually does… this series is for you.
Firstly, not all LED light is the same 🔵🔴
Different colours of light pe*****te the skin at different depths, which means they each do a completely different job. Knowing this one thing will change how you shop.
And remember: not all colours are backed by clinical evidence.
