James Rogers became involved in a Hair Salon “NotJustCuts” in Camden about 20 Years ago. From an art and design background his job was to create the interior and market the Salon but being a hands on type of person James swept the floor, washed the hair and booked in the clients as well. To try and get more publicity James started experimenting with creating hairstyles which were a little more artistic. Influenced by what the Punk movement James produced animal prints, sculptural cuts, graphic patterns and flowers. Hair is a very exciting and interesting material to work with. He sent his pictures to magazines and finally had a double page spread in Time Out magazine. The day it was published the phone did not stop. From Fashion film crews from Germany , to articles in Japanese magazines and videos for the TV.

What James realised quite early on was the attention one of his hairstyles created had a massive impact on the life of the client. People would become the centre of attention. They would get invited to party’s, let into clubs and would ask his clients to come back and tell him what had happened to them.
