Self Care Calendar That's a wrap! Well done! If you enjoyed it, why not start again! πŸ™πŸ»

In my yoga classes I offer suggestions on how to bring yoga into daily life, sharing little practices, off the mat, one minute at the time. In a creative moment I decided to turn these ideas into an advent calendar, then into a full month of mini yoga practices which you can all find on How Many Yogis Instagram & FaceBook page.

Feel free to repeat, mix and match or contact me or join a class for more. I can only make suggestions, you are responsible for your own actions, please practice mindfully and listen to your body and mind, respect your limitations.

Online classes are available via the website.

Self Care Calendar Day 31: In my yoga classes I offer suggestions on how to bring yoga into daily life, sharing little practices, off the mat, one minute at the time. Last one...

Day 31 - Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes. Sitting on a chair, feel our feet connected with the floor, focus on our breath. Take a big inhale and sigh out, repeat a few times. Close your eyes or lower your gaze. Today we scan our body, from toes to the top of your head. Slowly move and check you you feel. When you notice tension, acknowledge it, ask to release on your next exhale, perhaps a couple of breaths and then move on. Don’t linger.

Check your toes, your feet, your ankles, your lower legs, your knees, your upper legs, your hips, lower belly & back, upper belly & back, shoulders, arms, hands, fingers, neck, face, jaws, tongue, eyebrows to the roots of your hair, tips of your ears.

Then slowly start moving your fingers, toes, roll your shoulders, perhaps stretch and yawn. Gently open your eyes. Enjoy!

NOTE: Feel free to repeat, mix and match or contact me or join a class for more. I can only make suggestions, you are responsible for your own actions, please practice mindfully and listen to your body and mind, respect your limitations.

Self Care Calendar Day 30: In my yoga classes I offer suggestions on how to bring yoga into daily life, sharing little practices, off the mat, one minute at the time.

Day 30 - Rolling, Rolling, Rolling . Several of our joints love circular πŸ”ƒ movement. Today take a few minutes to roll your wrists, ankles, shoulders and/or hips. You can do this seated or standing. One at the time. Don’t rush it. Let your breath guide gentle movements. Inhale up, exhale down, slow it down..

Self Care Calendar Day 29: In my yoga classes I offer suggestions on how to bring yoga into daily life, sharing little practices, off the mat, one minute at the time.

Day 29 - I feel like dancing πŸ•ΊπŸΎ (or going for a 🏊🏽 swim): sometimes during a class I intend to teach a movement and realise it feels or looks like we are doing something different. Rotating or rolling the shoulders is a lovely way to check in with how much tension you hold and release some of this. Inhale the shoulders up and make forward circles, exhaling down, up via the back. However, if you move one shoulder at the time it looks a bit like doing a boogie or feels like swimming. Try it, use your imagination and enjoy! Don’t forget to go backwards. Finish by gently raising your shoulders next to your ears on the inhalation and gently sigh exhale them back down.

Sorry, due to personal circumstances I am posting this a day late x

Self Care Calendar Day 28: In my yoga classes I offer suggestions on how to bring yoga into daily life, sharing little practices, off the mat, one minute at the time.

Day 28 - Dance πŸ’ƒπŸΌ β™₯️ of Love: A beautiful sequence of 2 full breaths, 5 movements, that can be done standing or seated. I will share the seated version here. Sitting on a chair, feel our feet connected with the floor, sit up nice and tall.
1. Long inhale: move arms forward, just under shoulder height, then open arms wide. Opening the chest, filling the lungs with air.
2. Exhale: bring arms back to front, arms stretched forwards, hand palms together.
3. Inhale: pressing palms together, bend arms, bring hands towards chest πŸ™πŸ»
4. Exhale: separate hands, palms down, push them down alongside your body.
Keep your shoulders low and let your breath guide the movements. Just take as long as you want to play with this today. I will record this as a video πŸ“Ή in future and share the words and story. Enjoy, please let me know how you get on in the comments!

Self Care Calendar Day 27: In my yoga classes I offer suggestions on how to bring yoga into daily life, sharing little practices, off the mat, one minute at the time.

Day 27 - Wave πŸ‘‹πŸ» and 😊 smile: This might make more sense to those regularly attending my classes and hopefully put a lovely smile 😊 on your face without instructions.οΏ½Today we focus on rotation of the joints, waving & smiling. A bit like the queen πŸ‘‘ from her carriage . Sitting on a chair, feel our feet connected with the floor, gently roll your hands (or fists). Slow it down, inhale up, exhale down. Change direction. If you feel like doing more, rotate one ankle at the time (if on a chair gently raise your leg to do so or draw a circle on the floor). Slow it down, inhale up, exhale down. Change direction. Finish by waving πŸ‘‹πŸ» slowly with your hands and feet (heels supported) with a big πŸ˜€ smile. Just take as long as you want to focus on this today.

Enjoy, let me know how you get on in the comments! I hope you have had a wonderful Christmas πŸŽ„

Self Care Calendar Day 26: In my yoga classes I offer suggestions on how to bring yoga into daily life, sharing little practices, off the mat, one minute at the time.

Day 26 - Forgiveness: Today we focus on letting go, looking forward and forgiving. Trying to be the best πŸ‘πŸ» version of ourselves, here and now. οΏ½οΏ½Sitting on a chair, feel our feet connected with the floor, focus on our breath.
With your eyes closed think about something you regret, something you feel a bit guilty about. Start with something small, like taking the last crispy potato, eating too much 🍫chocolate, not tidying up the mess, not answering the phone πŸ“ž as you were watching something, etc. You can choose something bigger.
Look back at the situation and ask yourself how could you have reacted differently, and set the intention how to act better next time. Then forgive yourself, and leave the β€œincident” in the past, let it go, moving on. Just take as long as you want to focus on this today.

Enjoy, let me know how you get on in the comments! Have a wonderful πŸŽ„ Christmas

Self Care Calendar Day 25: In my yoga classes I offer suggestions on how to bring yoga into daily life, sharing little practices, off the mat, one minute at the time.

Day 25 - Being πŸ™πŸ» Grateful: Today we focus on the positive. Focus on what we have and what we can achieve with what we have. Sitting on a chair, feel our feet connected with the floor, focus on our breath. Place your hands in your lap, palms up, left hand into right hand, form a bowl (like a beggars bowl). With your eyes closed or low gaze think about the things you are grateful for in your life. This can be as small or as big as you like. This could be people, opportunities, physical items, in the past or present. Use your imagination to place the things you are grateful for in your bowl until it is so full it overflows. You can choose to challenge yourself to think about what you can create with everything you have, or stay with being grateful. Just take as long as you want to focus on this today.

Enjoy, let me know how you get on in the comments! Have a wonderful Christmas πŸŽ„

Self Care Calendar Day 24: In my yoga classes I offer suggestions on how to bring yoga into daily life, sharing little practices, off the mat, one minute at the time.

Day 24 - Rocking 🀘🏻 & Rolling: Gentle movements, keeping the joints moving, can make a big difference to our circulation and help strengthen our joints. Today we do some rocking 🀘🏻 and rolling around the Christmas πŸŽ„ tree. Sitting on a chair, feel our feet connected with the floor, gently roll your hands (or fists). Slow it down, inhale up, exhale down. Change direction.

Next we make circles with our upper body, rolling the hip joints, inhale to the back, exhale to the front. Change direction. Try how it feels just rocking back and forth or side to side. Try little and big movements. Find what works for you. Just take a few minutes to play with this today. Happy Christmas! 🌟

Day 23 - Favourite πŸ’—πŸ’œπŸ’™πŸ’šπŸ’›πŸ§‘β€οΈ Colour: Colours mean different things for different people. What is your favourite colour at the moment? Today we focus on feeling positive. Sitting on a chair, feel our feet connected with the floor, hands on our heart. Visualise your favourite πŸ’—πŸ’œπŸ’™πŸ’šπŸ’›πŸ§‘β€οΈ colour, breathing this into your heart centre and breathe out sending this colour out to your entire body and beyond until it spills out, like a bright shiny sparkly Christmas πŸŽ„ tree. Just take a few minutes to play with this today.

Day 22 - Energy Hands βœ‹πŸΌ: If you can’t go outside, go inside! Sitting on a chair, feel our feet connected with the floor, hands in our lap, palms facing up. Focus a your breathing and on the next inhalation slowly raise your hands up (finger tips almost touching, as high as is comfortable, up to your face) and on the exhalation slowly lower your hands (palms down). Keep falling your breath up and down. You can imagine moving energy, running your hands through water, noticing the air between your fingers, whatever feel right for you. Just take a few minutes to play with this today.

Sitting on a chair, feel our feet connected with the floor, hands on our heart. Visualise the colour πŸ’—violet, breathing this into your heart centre and sending this colour out to your entire body (and beyond). Think about good friends, family and appreciate how you are connected (even now). Just take a few minutes to play with this today.
