PLASTICINE PORTRAIT – WITH WILFRID WOOD:
30 MAY 2026

Get to grips with portrait in a completely new way!

Join us for a day of undoing and in doing so, getting to the heart of portrait as we draw and sculpt, playing with materials and techniques. This day will build confidence in yourself and bring life and expression into your practice.

This is a great workshop to really challenge your grasp of portrait through drawing into 3D structure. We will be working with simple materials and processes – but the main premise of the workshop is rooted in principles of sculpture- with out the constraints of cumbersome materials like clay or bronze. The day will involve lots of drawing as well as as sculpting and will cut to the heart of portrait, allowing you to start to hone in on likeness through identifying the idiosyncrasies of the face.

Our workshops with Wilfrid are an exploration into fun experimentation where communication is as important as your medium.

This is a super way of building on your drawing skills – A great refresh and injection of new ideas and approaches-

NEW⚡️⚡️⚡️WATERCOLOUR PORTRAIT –
ONLINE COURSE WITH ARTIST MARK ENTWISLE – JULY 2026

We are hugely excited to working with the award winning artist for a new online course!

Mark is a prolific watercolourist- working in landscape, still life and figurative painting. His specialism is depicting light- and his portraits capture a luminosity in the sitter which is wonderfully delicate. Combining both control and the fluidity of this complex medium – Marks portraits are beautifully observed and expressive.

Mark is a fantastic tutor – with so much to offer with regard to technique and handling of colour and paint. This course is demonstration led- so you will work along with Mark as he demonstrates techniques to create a portrait from a photograph. We will begin the course with how to handle watercolour with demonstrations on colour mixing, water and brush techniques – and then move into building portraits, gradually moving through layering and masking- building space and colour to create luminosity in your painting.

The course is full of demonstrations with plenty of feedback and practical advice- a great opportunity to build you skills and confidence in watercolour.

Recordings will be provided after each session- so you can rewatch/ catch up/ pause/ recap and rewind – with access for two months after the course.
