I am a documentary/reportage/candid/photojournalistic wedding photographer. Essentially, I tell you to just carry on with your day as normal and I will be popping up in all sorts of random places like a strange ninja. The biggest compliment I can get from a client is “we didn’t even notice you taking that photo” and the second biggest is “you’re a really nice person and your fascinator totally isn

Thank you to all the 2025 couples who accepted me for who I am: a professional wedding photographer by day and a milk cow with chronically unbrushed hair by night.

Thank you also to my supportive partner who attended a lot of weekend kids birthday parties solo, the grandparents and my friend village for babysitting so I could edit in the peak times, and the kids’ expensive Lego hobby that drives my passion for my work! Without all of these people Marianne Chua Photography would not run!

Looking forward to a wonderful 2026, happy new year to everyone!

In contrast to my last post this is one for no one but me. Social media is a beast because in a practical sense you are there to post for the client. At the base truth it’s a marketing necessity. So how do you decide what to post? The stuff that works or the stuff you love?

Well this is the stuff I love- the colours, patterns, light, moment, juxtaposition, the story. Little touches and little laughs

A post to say thank you to the reception suppliers! (Everyone else you’re coming soon!). This was my first time at the gorgeous MKII for this Hackney wedding and I hope to go back there again! They chose the most palette pleasing (both eye and mouth!) food from local caterers/restaurant Hai. The floristry was epicly done by a team who due to the storm restrictions at Abney Park had to be let in to do their work only 5 mins before the ceremony- they made everything look amazing considering that must have been a worst nightmare scenario for them!

Also wanted to thank the brilliant Dita for looking after me so well in all aspects- not just making sure I was fed but also giving me creative freedom with lighting and making sure I was consulted everytime there was a big change! Not every planner and venue organiser does this for photographers so sometimes I probably looked surprised when she asked! It was really appreciated and I highly recommend this space for both couples and for vendors to work there!

A very different post for me because this couple opted to keep certain parts of their day private, but they loved the photos (the first shot being a fave of both me and brides’ 100% unplanned and unposed!) and so kindly gave me permission to share a more detail focused curation. You know me, I’m all about the big emotions and faces so the carousel will look different from the usual! However I promise there was plenty of those moments on this brilliant wedding day- a super moving first look not just between the bride and groom but also with the parents- I have brilliant photos of the mothers embracing each other in tears seeing their kids (because that’s what we always are to our parents even when we grow up).

They had a hilarious moment of the dog ring bearer bringing an empty ring box, a super unique idea of the wedding guests doing a ballot vote to decide their surname (they’re both into politics).

We had the most perfect light for the couple shots, just unreal, there was back lit sun with lines and streaks of shadows across the ground that I stood the couple nicely fit in- for me that’s the chefs kiss!

They also did a fun game of finding hidden objects around the venue to win a free drink- and Obama was there all day! They projected videos of themselves onto the walls and had a photo booth off between the kids. They had a vegan wedding meal which was DELICIOUS. During the ceremony they wrote letters to each other to be opened decades into the future.

So as you can tell it was a super interesting day and a pleasure to capture. I had the most wonderful feedback too to delivering the 35mm and harinezumi toy video, which I’m very grateful for!

I hope between the words and photos you get a good sense of how fab this day was- congratulations .l.williams and .pup!

Rather annoyingly I forgot these two in the last post and the cupboard one is one of my faves so I felt it was worth a fresh add. Also realised I uploaded two portrait orientation shots cropped to the carousel >< that’s the reality of doing your marketing with a wriggly 9 month old baby!

E was such a fun smiley bride all day and I love how everyone else in the shot lines up with their part… plus a little lamp hat which is a little joke I’ve enjoyed over the years (my other thing is flowers/leaf faces!)

I know they never do as well in the algorithm but I do genuinely love my prep shots! Here’s me flexing the way I shoot candids- always framey, always colourful, always a little funny!

Just to mix things up we’re going to travel up the m11 from East London to a local Essex wedding venue the lovely Reid Rooms (I will come back for the rest of that gorgeous Hackney pub wedding later!). I live only 25 mins away from this exclusive use venue and this was the first time I’d photographed a wedding in their outdoor ceremony space.

I hope you’re ready for a few carousels with a wonderfully emotional pair of brides who wanted to just have a relaxed and personal wedding with all their loved ones. I’ll be sharing the speeches next which were just tear jerkers all round!

Always a pleasure at Hackney Town Hall! I love mixing genuine joy, emotions and little expressions with compositions and frames that soothe your eyeballs. It can’t be just me with a brain that sings when everything in a frame just lines up? I don’t even think it’s about perfection because I’m not about that on a wedding day- for me it’s about intention and showing that you’re crafting a shot with thought and purpose.

I promise this is the last time I’ll share this amazing wedding but I couldn’t miss a post about the party the guests and the LOLs!

I’m a wedding photographer that focuses on the guests just as much as I focus on the couple. If you book me you can guarantee you’ll see plenty of candids of all the silly fun your loved ones get up to in a bold rich edit that honours the colours of your day.

And if you book the anazing Hayley Gold and Dj Terron you have two suppliers who are brilliant at getting your guests in the party mood. I enjoyed a brilliant sing a long and the most compact Jewish dancing a london pub basement has ever seen!

This was my first time shooting at the wonderful Tudor Barn in Eltham, they have such a great helpful team who are super friendly and relaxed to work with. Hope to come back and shoot there again soon! It’s an interesting Tudor Barn situated slap bang in the middle of an urban South East London park. Really lovely choice if you want to have more of a countryside feel but with a commuting ease!

Thank you to P and A for letting me share these gorgeous memories. Here’s some classic moments and I’ll share my fun guest documentary shots next!
