Founded in 2012. We make scents - unusual, beautiful and extravagant ones - for ourselves and others

After 14 years writing about scents, and a few olfactory adventures along the way, Sarah McCartney wrote a book about a woman who solves problems with coffee, cake and the scent of happy times; The Scent of Possibility (Lulu.com). Then unable to find any perfumes that matched the scents she had described she had a go at making them myself. Then, while the book was still sitting on an agent's desk,

New Fragrances From 4160 Tuesdays ~ Niche Perfumery ~ Fragrantica 14/06/2026

Here's a new piece from Fragrantica, all about our three new releases. As Nicola points out, we don't launch them, we just allow them out alone.

New Fragrances From 4160 Tuesdays ~ Niche Perfumery ~ Fragrantica Good, honest perfumery British artisanal brand 4160 Tuesdays don’t do your typical perfume launch. They don’t do lavish events with perfume-flavoured canapes and influencer-gifted goodie bags. Instead, they favour sneaking out new scents quietly, and without too much razzmatazz. That doesn’t m...

What kind of scales do you need for weighing perfumery materials?
Sarah explains why using the smallest amount possible isn’t necessarily the best way to save money.

We had visitors today, four people turned up this afternoon, so I spent an hour or so introducing them to the collection. Here's a quick snap I took of one person's chosen scents.
I usually ask how people have found us, because it's not easy. One chap said he had asked Google where the nearest Le Labo stockist was and told him to visit us instead.
Google has really changed - old Google would never have done that - and while I don't trust its AI update it seems to have decided to like us. I know it's a machine, and while it's disconcerting to know that it will send someone to a different place from the one they asked for, I've got to admire its audacity.

(No mate, you don't want to go there! What are you thinking? You need to try these guys! That's where you'll find the really interesting stuff!)

ChatGPT recently told another man that we're the best place in London to have a bespoke perfume made. Unfortunately it also told him to use fragrance materials that don't exist.

In the meantime, we still blend and bottle by hand, and make fragrances to formulas I have imagined in my own carbon-based brain, and tested until I'm happy, using my own nose.

I wonder if machines can smell silicon-based molecules?

(Still giggling about the ultrabot redirecting him away from Le Labo.) The gentleman thought we must have really good SEO in place - it's called AIO now, and it's temping to set up a consultancy called Old McDonald - but we have done nothing! Except that we've been here for 14 years, doing what we do, and getting ourselves embedded deeply into the interweb.

Anyway, you're welcome to visit, Monday to Friday, 11 to 6 ish. Check first that someone will be in, and don't believe AI when an LLM tells you our opening hours.

Definitely making progress with the packaging prototype. Next: get it handmade by a traditional bookbinder so you'll want to keep it forever!
I am quite disproportionately chuffed with myself for assembling my school skills for turning my imaginings into 3-D design.

Testing the stories the Blaze of Glory fragrances. They start, they change direction and they end in a different place. Every hour you're wearing another fragrance. Linearity was so 20th Century!

While we can’t prevent the encroachment of AI, we can refuse to use it and we can encourage more Human2Human projects. This is what our Blaze of Glory Collection is all about. A handmade fragrance with hand-drawn labels.

We need more Human2Human projects and experience.
