Kiyana Wraps - African Headwrap Heritage in Dementia Care.

We are deeply honoured to be recognised by His Excellency Ndolamb Ngokwey, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo to the United Kingdom, for our nominations for two Dementia Awards and for acknowledging us as cultural ambassadors of the DRC in the UK.

Through Kiyana Wraps, we remain committed to celebrating and elevating our cultural heritage. What began as tradition-Maputa worn by our mothers and aunties-has evolved into a meaningful, culturally sensitive intervention supporting reminiscence, dignity, and motor skills for African and Caribbean elders living with dementia.

Thank you for this recognition and for championing the power of culture in shaping inclusive, impactful care.

A huge congratulations to all finalists-we are proud to stand alongside you.

Thank you, Dementia Community, for this incredible honour.

SPOKEN WORD | The Art of Presence
She walked on stage not just to speak, but to be seen - fully.

Kevine, a former Miss Congo UK, corporate professional and spoken word artist, stunned the audience in a radiant glass-stone headdress by . Each piece was meticulously placed to reflect light, emotion, and intent - a design that ensured her face, her story, and her message were visible from every corner of the room.

This wasn’t fashion for fashion’s sake.
It was performance as protest.
Style as spotlight.
Adornment as armour.
In her hand: a mobile phone.
In her voice: the truth.

A powerful indictment of the human cost behind modern tech - the exploitation of Congo’s minerals, the displacement of its people, the silence around sexual violence.
Through poetry, Kevine called for justice and dignity, amplifying the voices often unheard in global conversations. Her performance was raw, radiant, and unforgettable.

We’re Back—And More Inspired Than Ever! ✨

After a soulful journey of self-exploration, we return with something truly special—an invitation to reconnect, create, and dream with us once more. Kiyana Wraps has always been more than fashion; it's a symbol of well-being, a bridge between memories and the moments that define us.

Dr. Ayokunmi Ojebode, alongside our very own Madeleine Laini and Christelle Tulia, have joined forces with Carl Case of Cultural Appropriate Resources to bring you something truly special: a Reminiscence Workshop designed for people of African & Black Caribbean descent living with dementia and other cognitive challenges.

Storytelling binds humanity together. Through creative expression, we unlock cherished memories, celebrate lived experiences, and nurture connection across generations.
