Jackie is a Consultant Plastic Aesthetic & Breast surgeon. Specialist also in facial injectables.
Three things to AVOID when having surgery:
If you are lucky enough to be able to choose your surgeon, hospital/clinic and the date for surgery, other things you need to know about how to optimise your outcome are below.
As a Plastic & Aesthetic Breast Surgeon with over 30 years of experience (yes, I started Plastic Surgery training in 1992), I know that the best surgical outcomes are obtained when patients are physically fit, fully informed, and have realistic expectations from their surgery.
š¢ Get physically fit
Build as much muscle mass as you possibly can (get an experienced physical therapist or trainer if need be) preop. Your muscles will start wasting after 48 hours of inactivity. Core strength = better mobility.
Cardio exercises will ensure that your heart will be able to deal more effectively with the blood loss and fluid shifts during surgery.
š¢ Optimize nutrition
Proteins are the building blocks for healing. Ensure that you maximise protein in your meals during the weeks coming up to your operation.
āļø Take supplements that are scientifically priven to work to help you heal.
I prescribe Skinade MD Pre-and Post op Programme to all my patients having surgery. Start taking it three weeks before your operation.
š¢ Follow your surgeons instructions.
They know how to best heal from the particular procedure you have had. Heed their advice on mobilisation, painkillers, antibiotics, antithrombotics, dressings, sutures, wound care, garments and whatever else they advise.
Summary: Avoid rushing your decision about surgery, having unrealistic expectations, or not doing everything you can to get the best result.

When it comes to the body, the 'go to' expert for non surgical therapies is non other than my esteemd friend and colleague, Dr Galyna Selezneva.
She has worked with every device worth knowing about. And her wealth of experience has earned her the title 'The Body Sculptor'.
Her talented and dedicated therapists (with magic hands, if you book a facial) have worked by her side for so long that clients bring them gifts for Christmas.
And she might well advise you that the only option for what you might wish to achieve is surgery (and refer you on).
I cannot think of anyone else I would recommend so highly for a non-surgical body treatment!
She can be contacted at drgalyna.com
What do I do?
I share my knowledge. Why? To enable women to lead their best lives.
What do I share? My experience in all things breast related like cancer, aesthetics, screening, what is normal and what to look out for.
And my experience in skin health and facial treatments, effects of menopause and what is out there that could help.

For women on aromatase inhibitors or other ostrogen-depleting cancer treatments, intimate symptoms are common ā and often under-treated.
I want to offer this service to specifically support:
ā
Breast cancer survivors
ā
Women with treatment-induced menopause
ā
Those unable to use hormonal therapies
BUT also, post menopausal women like me, who don't want to use oestrogen supplements or don't get sufficient benefit from them.
Always consultation-led. Always medically assessed.
No one prepares women for the intimate changes that can come with menopause or cancer treatment.
Vaginal dryness, discomfort, painful s*x or recurrent UTls are medical symptoms - not cosmetic issues, and not something you have to "just accept."
A non-hormonal laser-based treatment option is available for appropriately selected women, following full medical assessment.

3 things you need to know about breast implants:
1ļøā£ In the upright position, round implants can look like anatomical (tear drop) shaped ones.
2ļøā£ Breast implants come in many different shapes and sizes. Work with an experienced surgeon to choose your implants. Remember that your anatomy is unique and not like anyone elseās. What might look good on your friend may not be suitable for you.
3ļøā£ Your skin and soft tissues will change over time with ageing, pregnancy and breast feeding. Your breast tissue will thin after the menopause. Things will droop!
You will need further surgery on your breasts to exchange or remove your implants in the future.

October
Itās breast cancer awareness month again.
And I am a year older since my last post on this!
Ladies, be sure to check your breasts. And if you are over 50 years old, check the date of your last mammogram because we are behind on the NHS breast screening programme with COVID.
