Just coming to the end of my three week 'escape to the country' in the beautiful Luberon valley in France. I have had two friends staying (not simultaneously) and have enjoyed a wonderful break from routine and also plenty of R&R. It's given me lots of opportunity to think about my life, and what I still want to do. I've also managed to write three more chapters of my second book 'Once I Had A Secret Love' and mapped out the rest of the story and remaining chapters. All in all, a very happy, relaxing and productive time. Wish me luck for my journey home leaving on Saturday 4th July.

There is no question that the hotter summer weather demands a different approach to eating. Who wants to even light an oven when temperatures outside are soaring? Certainly not me!

Since I lost 10kg a couple of years ago on Dr. Michael Mosley's Fast 800 diet, I have eaten a salad for lunch every single day. I always use at least a tablespoon of olive oil mixed with a really good balsamic vinegar for the dressing, and then find various protein based accompaniments like goat's cheese, tuna fish or maybe some smoked salmon - sometimes on a slice of sourdough toast. This is quick to prepare, extremely tasty and very nutritious and I am happy to tell you that I haven't put back a single ounce of weight since I came off the draconian weight-loss programme. And the two biggest benefits? I feel fantastic and my clothes all look so much better now I have lost 6" off my waist and stomach.
