blink and you’ll miss it but I’m on TV!!!
-
my friends are as excited as me to see me on TV for the first time 🥹
everything I changed about my appearance when I decided to take acting seriously…
1. Dissolved my under eye filler
I can spot filler instantly on TV now, can you?
I’m absolutely not against filler - I think on the right person, done by the right clinic/doctor, it can look amazing. But I retain water really badly, and over time my under eyes started to look swollen/puffy. That being said… I will forever defend mid-face filler. In the right place, it can lift the face beautifully without affecting delicate skin. I also want to spot dissolve a little in my top lip next.
A huge part of this decision was acting. I want to be completely believable on screen, and sometimes visible cosmetic work (and bad acting) can take an audience out of the story. Especially in period dramas.
2. Stopped bleaching my hair blonde
Because I’m naturally dark featured, I thought going blonde would brighten me up, but honestly it just washed me out more.
When you’re starting out as an actor, anything that saves money, keeps your hair healthy, and helps you look more like your casting type is a win.
3. More natural makeup
I’m trying to embrace my actual appearance more and let go of my “makeup artist brain” where I always felt the need to look perfectly polished all the time. on screen, makeup is usually far softer than what we’re used to seeing online anyway.
4. No fake nails
Honestly… they’re just faff 😭
Learning to embrace having natural nails again has been a bittersweet experience, I’m ok with having ugly hands
Turns out I only respond to self-imposed pressure and vague threats….
