Another one completed!🥳🥳 high pressure booster on drive control for 4.5 to 6.5 inches wg boost. Particularly pleased with the intake spinning ready to connect a low pressure feed.

And so it comes apart albeit with some resistance!😂😂 The thing is old blowers like this fail simply due to maintenance. But when they do if they get into the hands of the wrong people instead of things getting better they often get worse…..unfortunately that is true of this case but we’ll see what we can do!!😁

Thank heavens for santas little helper!!😂😂😂 The blower out for repair, now replaced with the loan of the dangling one in the workshop, is certainly a bit bigger!! Still an old Meidinger but the biggest one I’ve come across. Looking forward to restoring it!😁

Finally both bearings bored and fitted. On the right bearing number one and on the left the bearing that definitely qualified as number two!!🤣🤣🤣

Well now just to give an inkling of how my current life works. Today, Sunday normally a day of rest and contemplation, commenced with water coming through the ceiling of my temporary residence in the wee small hours hence an earlier than usual start. Once saucepans and bowls carefully placed off to the works!!! Started with a schematic for a control system for America. Then turning the scars off a shaft, damaged by a taper bush, down to the nearest standard size. The onto boring the first reclaimed 1930’s Discus bronze bearing, a solid casting unbelievably abused! Then preparing two control enclosures with DIN rails and door interlock isolators. Then cutting new captive keyways in turned shafts ready for Wells cathedral. Working out some material orders for two new monster dual intake blowers and getting the orders off. Then fitting of the first long old bronze and starting boring of the really, and I mean really, bad one!!!😬 Suddenly it was 9.30!!!! So called it a day but not before checking out sources of high load 24volt dc contactors….found them!🥳🥳🥳🥳

The first of these blessed long bore 1930’s bearings bringing back to dimension to suit the reground shaft.

I’ve definitely gone off taper bushes unless the key is captive or retained with a screw. This is from one of Wells cathedral blowers I’m rebuilding albeit the other shafts the same.
