I’ve been using the Yuka app to scan our suncream lately and it’s honestly eye-opening ☀️📱
If you haven’t heard of Yuka, it’s an app that lets you scan the barcode of food and beauty products to check the ingredients and get a simple health score. It highlights potentially harmful additives and ingredients, making it so much easier to understand what we’re putting on our skin.
What shocked me is that many mainstream suncreams still contain ingredients like oxybenzone and octinoxate — chemicals that have been banned in places such as Hawaii and parts of the world because of the damage they can cause to coral reefs and marine life 🪸💔
Your sunscreen washes off into the sea, and some UV filters have been linked to coral bleaching and reef toxicity. Millions of tourists wearing suncream each year can have a huge environmental impact.

This has got to be one of my favourite tropic products. The BUTTERTINT. Why? Because it’s a 3 in one product. An eye shadow, a lipstick and a blusher. I recently lent one to a friend who is very particular about her skincare and she sent me a raving review and ordered in the next day!
I love it so much, I always have one on me which has resulted in one going through the washing machine as it was left in my back pocket 😭(it didn’t survive)
