๐Ÿ’œ Every parent faces challenges... and you're not alone.

As a practising midwife, I speak to parents every day, and one thing I've learnt is that no question is too small and no concern is ever silly.

Whether you're pregnant, recovering after birth, breastfeeding, struggling with your baby's sleep, or simply wondering if what you're experiencing is normal, chances are another parent is asking the very same question.

That's why I created this post. ๐Ÿ’œ

๐Ÿ‘‡ I'd love to hear from you...

What's your biggest challenge right now?

๐Ÿผ Breastfeeding?
๐Ÿ˜ด Baby's sleep?
๐Ÿผ Feeding concerns?
๐Ÿ’œ Postnatal recovery?
๐Ÿคฐ Pregnancy worries?
๐Ÿ’ฌ Or something else?

Leave your answer in the comments. Not only will it help me create content that truly supports you, but your comment could also reassure another parent who feels they're facing the same challenge alone.

At Birth & Nature, we're building more than a pageโ€”we're building a community where parents can learn, feel supported and grow together.

So don't be shy... let's help each other. ๐Ÿ’œ

๐Ÿ‘‡ Tell me your biggest parenting or pregnancy challenge below.

๐Ÿคฑ MYTH OR FACT? You should always wake your baby for feeds.

The answer is... it depends. ๐Ÿ’œ

Many healthy, full-term babies who are feeding well and gaining weight will naturally wake when they're hungry, so they may not need to be woken for every feed.

However, that's not true for every baby, and that's where many parents get confused.

In Part 2, I'll explain exactly which babies should be woken for feeds and why. It's information every new parent should know.

๐Ÿ’œ Parenting advice isn't always one-size-fits-all. Understanding why recommendations differ can help you make informed decisions for your baby.

๐Ÿ‘‡ Before watching Part 2, what did you think the answer wasโ€”Myth or Fact?

Save this post so you don't miss Part 2, and share it with another parent who might find it helpful.

๐Ÿผ One of the most common questions I hear as a midwife is: "How do I know if my baby is getting enough milk?"

It's completely normal to worry, especially in the first few days and weeks. The good news is that your baby gives you several reassuring signs when they're feeding well.

In this reel, I share 5 important signs to look out for:
โœ”๏ธ Steady weight gain
โœ”๏ธ Plenty of wet and dirty nappies
โœ”๏ธ Baby seems satisfied after feeds
โœ”๏ธ Effective sucking and swallowing during feeds
โœ”๏ธ Baby settles and sleeps between feeds

Remember, every baby is unique, and feeding patterns can vary. Whether you're breastfeeding, expressing, or formula feeding, the most important thing is that your baby is growing, feeding effectively, and producing the expected number of wet and dirty nappies.

If you're ever worried that your baby isn't feeding well, isn't waking for feeds, has fewer wet nappies than expected, or isn't gaining weight appropriately, don't struggle alone. Reach out to your midwife, health visitor, or healthcare professional for support. Asking for help early can make a big difference.

๐Ÿ’œ Parenthood comes with many questions, and that's okay. My goal is to provide evidence-based information that helps you feel more informed and confident in caring for your little one.

๐Ÿ‘‡ Which of these signs reassured you the most? Let me know in the comments, and don't forget to save this post so you can come back to it whenever you need a little reassuranceโ€”or share it with another parent who might find it helpful.

๐Ÿ‘ถ Have you noticed your baby stretching all the time?

If you're a new parent, you may have wondered whether all that stretching is normal. The good news is that, in most cases, it is!

Babies stretch because their bodies are adapting to life outside the womb. Stretching helps wake up their muscles, improve flexibility and movement, and supports healthy growth and development. You may notice your baby stretching after waking up, before falling asleep, or even during a yawnโ€”and that's usually nothing to worry about.

As a midwife, I often reassure parents that stretching on its own is a healthy sign. However, if your baby has unusual stiff or jerky movements, seems to be in pain, has difficulty feeding, or you're worried about anything you've noticed, always seek medical advice. Trust your instinctsโ€”you know your baby best.

๐Ÿ’œ Your body has done something incredibleโ€”but some symptoms after birth should never be ignored.

While many changes after birth are a normal part of recovery, some warning signs need urgent medical attention.

In this post, I share 3 things you should never ignore after giving birth.
