Hi Iām Linda I run a gentle Yoga class at Postwick Village Hall every Wednesday at 10-11am.
It is important to try and maintain muscle and bone strength particularly as we age. Today in our yoga practice we concentrated on weight bearing moves and actively, gently, contracting the muscles needed to help stay in a pose, this not only helps us to stay focussed but the muscle contractions help to stimulate your bones to strengthen themselves.

This week we worked on a standing posture flow, no downward dogs! We engaged all the joints, spiralling through the spine and repeating the flow several times to increase a little more depth and ease of movement. Our cool down and relaxation at the end (the best bit) was truly welcome.
Yoga is so good for body and soul.

Yoga helps us to work on our agility, a well rounded practice that cultivates strength, flexibility and balance provides a good foundation for enhancing this. We work on these skills each week in a safe, mindful and fun way.

Maintaining and improving our flexibility helps us to undertake a range of everyday tasks and thus stay physically active. Today our focus was on the spine, creating movement in all directions as well as working to find space and length through the side body.

Balance, the ability to maintain a stable position is an essential physical skill and is one that you can cultivate through the practice of yoga, today after thoroughly warming up all areas of the body we worked on this skill.

Welcoming in the new year with our first Yoga session, great to get moving again. Lovely to see those that could make it and commiserations to those suffering from Covid. Working on strength and flexibility through the shoulder area, great class.
