Our scientists have developed a daily pill to make chemotherapy more effective đź’Š
They’re calling it a “companion drug”, and lab tests show it’s able to break down some of the key defences cancers use to resist treatments. That could help more people benefit from chemotherapy – and support treatment plans that are less likely to cause side effects.
“In theory, you could give this to any patient receiving chemotherapy and it could allow for them to have a better response,” says Professor James Arnold, one of the co-leads behind the research.
The next step is to test that theory in clinical trials. If the team is right, the simple pill could improve countless people’s cancer treatment without adding extra strain.
“This is all thanks to so much teamwork across different disciplines,” says Professor James.
We’re excited to see where that teamwork leads next 🤝
