So it turned out the fall was even worse than I thought. I fractured the ball joint! So I’ve been strapped up (literally) for 5 weeks, unable to drive or for that matter do much at all. Only now just getting over the worst of it but still have to get the sign off from the Consultant at the Hospital.

It has taught me never to take health for granted and to be thankful for my online business. Even I can type with one hand (sort of!)…. just.

So while I’ve been strapped up I’ve been thinking about how many of you are Authors; published, self-published or aiming to be. I’ve been thinking it must be one of the loneliest entrepreneurial jobs of all… and that made me wonder if you would find it helpful if I could help you with a winning mindset so that you can promote yourself and your work effectively. This week I had a reminder of how much we rely on our bodies to ‘work’ every day. I had a really bad fall 😱

If I had a job that relied on me driving or using my very poorly arm, I’d have been in an impossible situation.

As it is, with my online business, I can carry on (almost) as normal. That’s the beauty of online. You really can work from wherever.

But let me guess…. you have questions when thinking about embarking on an online business yourself:-

What business can I start?
Do I have all the skills?
How do I find my audience?

There are many questions that will come to mind for you but the first is to decide what you can offer your audience. You have gifts and you deserve to be paid for them and there’s no better way to get started than online for a multitude of reasons including time and cost but also impact and how far your message can reach.

Sunday thoughts… who agrees?

It may seem unusual to publish this post but in these ‘odd’ times in the world I’m getting more patriotic. We assume many of the things in our shops are locally sourced and to be honest it makes perfect sense that they should be.

Many products no longer show where they were made, only giving where the distributor is located.

Can you differentiate which one is made in Taiwan or China? It’s all down to the barcode.

It is important to read the bar code to track its origin. How to read Bar Codes it turns out, is very revealing!

If the first 3 digits of the barcode are:-

690, 691 or 692, ……. it’s Made in CHINA
471……….. Made in Taiwan
890....…… Made in INDIA
00 - 09 ... USA and CANADA
30 - 37 ... FRANCE
40 - 44 ... GERMANY
49 ........… JAPAN
50 ........…. UK (just like these tissues below)

So if you want to source goods within your own country and support your home economy start reading product barcodes 😁
