Most people only think about booking a massage when something hurts.
And I completely understand that — pain is usually what forces the conversation.
But some of the clients I work with aren’t in pain at all. They’re training hard, they’re active, and they’ve learned that regular massage can help keep them that way.
It manages tension before it builds into something. It picks up on imbalances before they become injuries. It improves recovery so they can train consistently without constantly breaking down.
If you’re active and you want to stay that way — this is worth thinking about.

Here’s something most people don’t know about pain.
The state of the tissue is only part of the story. Sometimes a surprisingly small part.
Your sleep, your stress levels, your beliefs about what’s going on, how much you’re moving, your general health — all of it feeds into how much pain you actually feel day to day.
This is why your back can feel fine on holiday and terrible during a stressful week at work.
And it’s why as a therapist I never just look at where it hurts. The conversation at the start of every session — about sleep, stress, training, life — isn’t just small talk. It’s part of the assessment.
Understanding this stuff is genuinely one of the most powerful things you can do for persistent pain.
Save this one. And if you know someone who’s been struggling with pain that doesn’t seem to make sense, share it with them. It might be the reframe they need.

“It’s just your age.”
Four words that stop people looking for answers.
I hear this constantly from clients who’ve been written off somewhere along the way. Told to accept it. Manage it. Slow down.
And it’s rarely true.
Pain in your thirties, forties and fifties is not inevitable. It’s usually a movement problem, a strength problem, or a load management problem. None of those are age. All of them can be addressed.
I’ve worked with people in their fifties who are stronger, more active and more capable than they were ten years ago. Not because they did anything extraordinary. Because they stopped accepting a lazy explanation and did something about it.
You’re not too old. You just haven’t had the right help yet.
Drop a comment if this resonates. I’d like to hear your experience.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Google Review — Katherine
Katherine came in with running niggles that had been hanging around for a while. The kind of thing that quietly builds up and starts getting in the way of your training without ever being dramatic enough to force you to stop.
We worked out what was driving it. Got stuck into a proper sports massage. And she left with a strength and rehab programme specific to her.
The bit that stood out to me in her review?
She floated out.
That’s the feeling I want every single person to leave with. Not just patched up. Actually better.

Honest question. How’s your sleep been lately?
Because if you’re dealing with persistent pain and sleeping badly, those two things are almost certainly connected.
I ask every client about their sleep to help guide the treatment and post-treatment advice.
Poor sleep makes pain feel worse, slows recovery down, and makes injuries more likely. It’s one of the biggest factors in how people feel day to day and one of the least talked about in this space.
The good news is you don’t need a perfect eight hours every night to feel the difference. Small consistent changes. Earlier nights, less screen time before bed, easier training sessions when you’re running on empty. They add up quickly.
Your body does its best work when you let it rest properly.
Save this and let me know in the comments how sleep affects your pain. I’d genuinely love to know.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Google Review — via Sheliyan.
Running further and faster than before.
That’s where this client is now.
He came in with running niggles. Nothing overly dramatic. Just the kind of pain that builds up over time and starts quietly getting in the way of your training.
We did a full assessment. Worked out what was actually driving it. Got stuck into some hands-on treatment during the session and sent him away with specific exercises to work on at home.
But the bit he mentioned that meant the most to me?
The follow-up.
Checking in after sessions. Sending advice when something came up. Being available beyond the hour on the table.
That’s just how I work. It’s not a service add-on. It’s the part I think matters most.
Pain subsided. Running further. Running faster.
That’s the whole point.
I don’t just want people to feel better in the room. I want them to feel better out in the world — doing the thing they actually came to me for.

Every runner knows that feeling.
Training is going well. You’re hitting your sessions. Race day is getting closer and you’re feeling good about it.
Then something in your leg decides it’s got other ideas.
It’s gutting. Especially when you’ve put months of work in to get to that point.
The temptation is to either push through and hope for the best, or stop completely and watch your fitness disappear.
Neither of those is the answer.
Most running injuries respond really well when they’re dealt with properly. The right massage to calm things down. A tweak to your training load so you’re not making it worse. Some targeted strength work to take the pressure off the area that’s struggling.
More often than not, we can keep you running. Just a little smarter.
I’ve had runners come in convinced their race was over. Most of them made it to the start line.
If something’s not right and you’ve got a race on the calendar, don’t just hope it settles. Send me a message and let’s figure out a plan.
Two weeks out. The hard work is done.
Now it’s about arriving at the start line feeling as good as possible.
For a lot of my clients, a massage in the taper period is part of the race prep. Not a luxury. Just smart preparation.
Settling down anything that’s been building through the training block. Getting the legs feeling loose and ready. Giving the nervous system a chance to reset before the big day.
Got a race coming up? Message me INFO and let’s get you booked in.
