Mission Statement:
The Dennis Ralph Foundation has been set up to provide practical, emotional and social support in our community to those who are going through or who are supporting, caring for and loving someone through a serious illness. Often times the enormity of stress and worry families and patients have to bear is overwhelming. Many necessary but less important things get left behind.
Friends and family may want to help but do not know where to start or how to ask. We want to be a safe place people can come to for advice, practical financial and organisational help and for friendship and support. This charity was founded in memory of our son Dennis, who passed away from a brain tumour in April 2007. We hope this will prove to be a fitting legacy for our beautiful, sweet boy who brought such happiness to our lives. We want to spread the love and goodness of Dennis every day through this Foundation to all those who need it in this community. Provide information and support to those who contact us for help. We want to provide a comprehensive list of things that friends and family can do to help those going through a serious illness and their families. Being able to help open lines of communication within families and friends and our community will make it easier to help and support those in the way they need to be supported.
2. Provide practical help in the form of vouchers for taxi's, groceries, hair/barber appointments, clothing, cleaners, any form of help a family may need to get through this stressful time for them. We will also provide treats like day's out and meals out because we know how a little bit of 'time off' is very important.
3. Continue to support the Brain Tumour Charity through charitable donations - we have raised over £60,000 over the last 9 years under an umbrella trust in Dennis' name for the Brain Tumour Charity and we wish to continue to support the important work and research that they do. Any donation, however small, will help us to provide a family with small things to get them through this time. We believe that small gestures can mean a lot!
