MY WORLD refill hub

Refill starter kit for my beautiful, talented niece who heads off to dance college this weekend. Hopefully that’s enough to see her through clothing and cooking enough for herself to dance full time for at least half the term!

These recent refills we did are proof that refilling with us saves money as well as plastic. From Tesco, Method antibac spray is £4. That bottle refilled to the same level with Miniml antibac spray is 69p cheaper at £3.31. Tesco sell Ecover washing up liquid for £3.85. The same amount refilled with Miniml washing up liquid is 52p cheaper at £3.33.

🌍✈️ Travel lover or planet protector? Can we be both?
This is something I think about a lot. I absolutely love to travel. Exploring new places, meeting new people, and showing my daughters the incredible beauty of our world is one of my absolute favourite things in life. But I also want them to have that world in the future.

And that creates a tension – because travel has a footprint. So here are the five things I do to try to lessen our carbon footprint whilst satisfying my wanderlust…

✨ 1. Travel sustainably where possible
Trains, buses, boats, bikes… all have a smaller footprint than planes. We try to limit flights each year, and when we do fly, we fly economy and then our other trips are closer to home and by train or car (not perfect but better) - and last year we had great fun doing a trip around Portugal and southern Spain by FlixBus.

🌱 2. Offset thoughtfully (but not instead of reducing)
Carbon offsetting can’t undo the impact – especially not quickly – but it can be part of the picture. I also think about how to balance it elsewhere: can I ditch the car more between holidays? Say no to a work trip so I can say yes to a family one?

🛏 3. Treat hotels like home
Just because someone else is doing the laundry or paying the bills, doesn’t mean we forget the impact. Reuse towels and sheets, turn off the aircon, and don’t load your plate with food you won’t eat – even at a buffet!

🤝 4. Think local
Some destinations are struggling under the weight of too many visitors. Go off the beaten path where you can, choose accommodation and restaurants that are owned locally, eat locally and (best of all!), drink local wine - ideally straight from the cellar door. Bliss! 😊🍷

♻️ 5. Minimise your rubbish footprint
Take your reusables – bottle, cup, cutlery, snack bags – so you’re not relying on single use. And for toiletries, refill your travel bottles at our hub before you go! 💚 It’s lighter on the planet, and cheaper too 😉

Yesterday was a very big fill day! 21 bottles saved from landfill, more than 33L of planet-friendly product. Thank you to our lovely customers (mostly regulars but big welcome to the 1 new member of our refill family too) who these are ready for 💚💚💚💚

Lots of refilling today - at least 20 plastic bottles saved and a shower in laundry liquid for me and Mia as we attempted to replace the 20L drum on the top shelf with the tap accidentally open 🤦‍♀️

After a busy day, our borrow box is looking very bare. We are in need of empties - especially spray bottles, laundry liquid/fabric conditioner bottles, soap bottles & shampoo/conditioner/shower gel ones. Please pop in our drop box if you have any.

Have posted in a while and haven’t taken MyWorld to an event for ages. But today we are at Maceys Meadows for West Malling’s Great Big Green Weekend picnic.

Advent calendar giveaway day 17!

This time this time it is our other hair conditioner - Nourishing Coconut.


One of the things I love about Miniml’s products is that the ingredients are so simple they often have multiple uses. And this product is one of those. Not only to we use this as a hair conditioner, but we also use it as a shaving cream (“we” being all family members who shave - so it is tested on legs, armpits, bikini line & face!).

So that’s one less bottle to clutter the bath/shower!

Day 14 (a bit late!).

As a small community-based refill service, we don’t actually have the space to stock 24 different products. So we’ve needed to be a bit creative for this advent calendar giveaway & include a few other eco-products that aren’t ones we sell.

…homemade skin-scrub/polish

Most exfoliating scrubs use plastic microbeads - which cause water pollution and harm to wildlife. So Mia and I make our own with just 3 household ingredients - olive oil, caster sugar & (and it could be 2 as this is optional) tea tree oil. Mix the oil & sugar together to get a consistency you like. Add a few drops of tea tree oil. And that’s it, ready to use on face & body for smooth, silky skin!
