Let’s talk hair texture some core things that matter most for textured, curly, coily, and Afro hair 🤌🏻

1. Moisture matters more than “oil”

Curly and Afro-textured hair tends to dry out faster because natural scalp oils have a harder time traveling down bends and coils.

2. Shrinkage is actually really healthy!

Shrinkage often means your curls still have elasticity and moisture balance. For Afro hair especially, hair may appear much shorter than it really is! I promise that’s normal

* 6 inches stretched might look like 2–3 inches unstretched

People often mistake shrinkage for “hair not growing,” when the issue is usually breakage or retention.

3. Texture changes how hair behaves

Hair texture affects:
* Shrinkage
* Detangling difficulty
* How products absorb
* Styling methods
* Breakage risk

A tighter curl pattern doesn’t automatically mean “stronger” hair. Coils can actually be fragile because the twists create weak points along the strand.
