Not all hair loss is the same

When people notice their hair thinning or shedding, the questions are often the same: what's happening, and will it stop? But hair loss itself isn’t the same, there are many different types, with very different causes. Understanding exactly what you're dealing with is the first step to doing something about it.

A few of the most common:

Male and female pattern hair loss - gradual thinning, often gentle at first, influenced by genetics and hormones.

Telogen effluvium - sudden, diffuse shedding triggered by things like illness, stress, childbirth, or rapid weight loss. Often temporary, and very responsive to the right support.

Alopecia areata - patchy hair loss caused by the immune system, which can come and go.

Traction alopecia - caused by tight styling and tension on the hair over time.

Each needs a different approach, and guesswork rarely helps. A proper scalp analysis lets us identify what's really going on. Meaning that treatment and support can be targeted and effective. I offer private prescriptions and GP referrals.
