𝐀𝐒𝐌-𝐔𝐓𝐆 𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐄𝐗𝐄𝐂𝐔𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐒 𝐄𝐍𝐆𝐀𝐆𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐀𝐒𝐌-𝐔𝐓𝐆 𝐅𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐆𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐍𝐒 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑’𝐒 𝐕𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍

The 𝐀𝐒𝐌-𝐔𝐓𝐆 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 had the privilege of meeting two remarkable architects of our chapter’s foundation leaders whose achievements continue to elevate microbiology education at the 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐚.

We engaged with 𝐌𝐫. 𝐋𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐉𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰, 𝐀𝐒𝐌 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐚, 𝐈𝐏𝐑𝐎 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐚 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 (𝐆𝐚𝐒𝐨𝐌), 𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐓𝐆 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐡𝐃 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲. Alongside him was 𝐃𝐫. 𝐎𝐮𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐣𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐚, 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐭 𝐔𝐓𝐆 𝐒𝐌𝐀𝐇𝐒 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐚𝐒𝐨𝐌 , widely recognized for his academic leadership and contributions to scientific research.

Their mentorship strengthened our vision as we discussed building a more solid chapter structure, expanding student engagement, and aligning our goals with global ASM standards. The meeting also highlighted our growing collaboration with GaSoM and our involvement in the international webinar series, both opening new doors for learning, networking, and scientific exposure.

We left with renewed purpose, energized, focused, and ready to drive meaningful growth within the UTG microbiology community.
