𝘞𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩.

Reflecting on 25 years of yoga.

Not the poses.

The people.

The friendships.

The places.

The teachers.

The conversations that quietly changed everything.

Twenty-five years ago, I thought yoga might help me heal an injury. I had no idea it would help shape an entire life.

What began with an injured triathlete walking into a converted church in Santa Barbara became decades of teachers, trainings, and communities that carried me through so many seasons.

I wasn’t looking for spirituality.

I was an injured triathlete simply trying to heal.

One class, one teacher and one studio led to another.....and eventually to Yoga Soup—a place that has always felt like coming home.

Before there was Yoga Soup, there was my Aunt Annie.

She was the one who first invited me onto a yoga mat, and instrumental in guiding the direction of my faith and life.

Looking back now, I realize she gave me much more than an introduction to yoga.

My first 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training happened for very practical reasons.

As the Wellness Director of an athletic club in Santa Barbara, I always needed more yoga teachers.

I had no idea I would still be one today.

Heart Rocks.

Years later, another invitation. A second 200-hour. A remarkable collection of strangers turned family.

Sometimes the biggest turning points arrive as the gentlest invitations, and carry the deepest meaning.

One training became another.

Anatomy.
Breath.
Fascia.
Functional movement.
Trauma-informed practice.
Yin.
Ayruveda.

My hunger to learn only grew.

500+ hours of formal training.
A lifetime of learning.

Thousands of ordinary returns to the mat, never quite knowing where they were leading.
..and so many teachers who poured into me long before I realized just how much I needed them.

For many years, I came to this practice needing to be filled up.

an ode to a simple summer.

Clear water. A good book. Figs straight from the tree. A dog who insists on joining practice. Market tomatoes that taste like sunshine.

This is what staying connected to yourself actually looks like.

Not a program. Not a plan. Just presence, nourishment, and a little movement woven into the days.

Seasonal Living: Summer is open. Movement, nourishment, and reflection for a simpler summer.

26/06/2026

I was tagged last week from a post that made around the question of whether wellness has become more complicated than it needs to be.

As an integrative and functional registered dietitian, and through the work Amanda and I do with Genomic Living, I spend a lot of time helping people understand genetics, biomarkers, nutrition, movement, and lifestyle.

So when someone tagged me and said, “this is exactly how you work,” I smiled, because they were right.

We use testing. We review labs. We explore genetics.
But we also talk about relationships, emotional health, purpose, community, and how people actually live their lives.

Are you breathing deeply?

Have you taken the time to notice?

Health, vitality, and longevity matter to me, but they are a focus, not an obsession.

As summer unfolds, my invitation is simple: step back and notice what season you’re in.

Just notice.

On my end with school out and the daily routine changing, I too have stepped back to notice and simplified a few things to make space for these family months ahead.

My teaching is all online and I am now offering Seasonal Living as a single seasonal membership that includes movement, nourishment, and reflection, all in one place.

One season at a time.

Check it out if it helps you stay dedicated to your practice, your body, mind and spirit.

Here’s to a simpler summer.

Flourishing isn’t something you force.
It’s something you return to, again and again.

Slowly, steadily, in ways that begin to shape how you live.

And when this is practiced in community, it starts to spread.
You begin to feel it, see it, and support it in one another.

Through awareness, connection, insight, and purpose,
small shifts begin to take root.

Repeated over time, they become who you are.

Through small shifts. Repeated.
