Today is World Drowning Prevention Day — and in a country with this much coast, river and lake, it's one to take seriously.

Drowning is one of Ireland's leading causes of accidental death, and much of it is preventable. The basics save lives: learn to swim, wear a lifejacket, watch children near water, know the local conditions, and never swim alone. Many Rotary clubs support water safety and rescue efforts in their communities.

Enjoy the water this summer — safely.
