Makeup tip of the day:
To make your makeup stay for longer time in summers, one can take ice compression on face for 15 minutes just before putting any kind of makeup. The ice compression should not be direct on face. Ice should be wrapped in cotton or towel before use. It will relax the facial muscles and at the same time will control the facial temperature which helps in absorbing makeup for long time.

It is the lactic acid in milk that diminishes skin pigmentation evening out and lightening your complexion. You can rub on some milk using a clean cotton ball and leave it on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing. The best thing about this is that not only does it whiten your skin, but it also moisturize the skin the safe and natural way.

2. Turmeric

This may sound odd since turmeric is known to cause some discoloration due to its yellowish hue. Surprisingly, this yellow spice can actually create a whitening action. You just have to mix it with natural oils, like coconut or olive oil, to create a past, or you can mix it with the more moisturizing honey. Apply it on the skin and leave it on for 15-20 minutes before washing. Turmeric can control the action of melanin on the skin resulting in a fairer skin with regular use. The effects will not be so dramatic, but you will definitely be shades lighter.

Lemon juice is not only an excellent way to quench the summer thirst, but it also used to even out and whiten the skin. In fact, you see lemons used as an active ingredient in household bleaching products. It acts in the same way to the skin, but rest assured it is gentle. It can either be used alone or with other natural skin whitening ingredients, like milk or yogurt. You can spritz or rub it on your face and leave it for 20 minutes or overnight for better effect. If it stings or burns, you can simply rinse it off right away. Its whitening effect is a result of its exfoliating action.

The whitening effects of rice water or rice powder is one of the Asian whitening secrets. The reason behind it is that rice water is actually teeming with antioxidants that can nourish and protect the skin. It also protects and heals the skin from the damaging effects of the sun. Our skin sheds millions of dead skin cells by the minute. Some just slough off, while others pile up on the skin’s surface resulting in dry and uneven patches. Oatmeal not only serves as a good breakfast, but also as an excellent skin whitener. Two tablespoons of oatmeal is enough to cover the face and you mix this with a tablespoon of honey to smoothen the consistency. Rub this all over your face to help slough off dead skin cells on the skin surface, revealing a radiant complexion underneath. You can substitute honey with yogurt or olive oil. Aloe vera or aloe vera-based products can be used in the winter as well as in the summer and by people of all skin types. Aloe vera treats the cells on the epithelial level of the skin which is why it's recommended by dermatologists to remove tan, treat sunburn and stretch marks. Stir the three ingredients together and use it to scrub both face and body.
