Hi everyone, just a few things I wanted to say as I get ready to return to Japan!

I will be returning to work as normal on February 18th! To those already on the book, I can’t wait to see you 🩷 For those still needing to book, I am booking into mid March. Please note slight my reduction in hours/availability as I am getting closer & closing in on my due date. (Eek nervous)

I also wanted to make an announcement that as we wrap up the month of March, I will sadly not be taking on any more new clientele. Starting March 31st, new clients will not be accepted until further notice.

Also, a huge thank you for being so kind and understanding during this time I needed to unexpectedly step away to the US. Everything is okay, however I did need to tend to a death in my family. I know it wasn’t ideal and very last minute, as these things usually are, but I appreciate all the check ins and I wanted to stress how much I absolutely love my clientele & the support I’ve received.

Hi everyone!

There have been a ton of cancellation texts that went out just now, and I did put a message in with cancellations but they only seem to be showing through email rather than both email and text.

Due to an unforeseen family emergency, I have made the extremely difficult decision to cancel all appointments up until February 17th. I will be traveling to the US on Monday January 26th and so far will be returning on February 17th. During this time I will be with family, any messages received will be responded as I properly find the time or get back to Okinawa. I apologize for any inconveniences. Feel free to reschedule online through my booking link on Facebook or Instagram in March, however please keep in mind that getting closer to my due date is resulting in a reduction of my hours for my wellbeing and safety.

❕STRAND TESTS❕
What are they and why are they so important?

The importance of a strand test is to how your hair lifts & reacts to any sort of lightening or coloring. I personally like to do this before applying anyyyy lightener to specifically at-home colors & box dyes.

It gives me a chance to see:
•how many levels the hair can lift
•if the hair can lift evenly
•what pigments/undertones are laying underneath
•if there will be any adverse reactions when mixed with the lightener
•porosity & strength of the hair during the process (aka can it even handle it?)

This is how we plan accordingly how to properly approach your end goal & come up with a plan if things don’t go as intended 🤗

In the photo above, this is what a strand test showed after 45 minutes on black box dye (being checked on every 20). I ended pushing a few minutes past 45 to see how the hair would handle and in just those few minutes, integrity was compromised and the hair was stretching & snapped.

As a stylist, I can honestly say we’ve all been there at least once in our career where we skipped the extra step & ended up regretting it 😅 As much of a pain as it may seem, please just trust the precaution & consider being open for compromise if plans don’t go as imagined right away 🫶🏼

What does maintenance look like on a calico? •

The truth is, this is a high-maintenance & tedious service. It requires time, consistency, and patience.

• Retouching/Refreshing: every 6–10 weeks, depending on placement & blocking style
• At-Home Care: color safe sulfate-free products, cold rinses, heat protection, and avoiding swimming as much as possible
• Fading: it 100% will happen to the coppers & reds, so be sure to follow at-home care instructions for longevity
• Budget: cost for a color block usually depends on the color blocking style & the complexity of the placement- making sure there is 0 bleed over into other colors typically making this priced at an hourly rate, rather than a set flat rate price like other services
